Thank you! I’ll check it out! meltalk

I noticed that your initial efforts are removing red links from articles. Please take a few minutes to read WP:RED first to understand their purpose, and especially the part of the guideline on how to deal with red links. Hope that helps! Schazjmd (talk) 20:51, 1 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, I read the article! It was very helpful. Thank you! meltalk
Your customized signature is cute, but you've removed the date/time stamp. That should always be included in a signature. Schazjmd (talk) 21:17, 1 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Are you Wikipedia staff? mel 🌸 talk
I'm an editor just like you. And you just removed the date and time stamp again from your post, please don't do that. Instead of manually replacing the automatic signature with your customized version, please see the instructions at WP:FANCYSIG. Schazjmd (talk) 21:46, 1 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You don’t have the right to do what you’re doing if you’re not staff. You can’t tell me what to do. mel 🎀 talk
Wikipedia doesn't have staff. The date and time stamp are required; see the policies and guidelines section, that says "Always keep the time/date-stamp: these are used by bots to determine when a discussion is eligible to be archived." Schazjmd (talk) 21:56, 1 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia does have staff, as shown in Wikipedia:User access levels. mel 🍓 talk
Wikipedia doesn't have mods. Some users are administrators, which means they have access to some additional tools, primarily for blocking editors and protecting pages. It is common for experienced editors to give new editors guidance as they learn the ropes at wikipedia. I won't bother you again. Schazjmd (talk) 22:20, 1 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I am not new, please do not assume. I joined Wikipedia around five months ago. This is only one of my accounts. Also, I didn’t state that Wikipedia has mods. You’re not just “guiding” me, but you’re also mini-modding. mel 🧁 talk

Welcoming People

[edit]

Please don't randomly welcome people that just make an account. That was one of my mistakes as well when I first started editing Wikipedia . When the editor starts to edit, you may give out an appropriate welcome message. Myrealnamm's Alternate Account (talk) 18:26, 4 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, sorry! I will no longer randomly welcome people. Thank you so much! meltalk
Hi Melwuvsyou. I wondered if Wikipedia:Welcoming committee/Welcome templates might be of use to you? There are lots of templates to choose from. You don't have to use any of the templates, but it can make things a bit quicker. Hope this helps! Knitsey (talk) 20:36, 4 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
They were so helpful to me, Knitsey! Thank you! Also, I love your your username color. The maroon is so pretty! mel 🍓 talk 20:43, 4 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Just to reiterate what Myrealnamm's Alternate Account was saying, don't welcome people who haven't edited yet.
If you find someone who has edited, check that the edit is appropriate for the article and isn't vandalism. For example, if a new editor has made a good faith edit that is unreferenced, then you could revert the edit then leave the Welcome message template that incorporates details about referencing. Knitsey (talk) 17:36, 6 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I know. Thank you for the reminder! mel 🧁 talk 17:39, 6 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
