Speedy deletion nomination of Henry's Bookstore - 2010 Profit Statement
[edit]A tag has been placed on Henry's Bookstore - 2010 Profit Statement requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content. You may wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. bd_ (talk) 06:51, 30 April 2010 (UTC)
- Please note that Wikipedia does not publish original research. Any financial statements which you have prepared are, within the Wikipedia meaning of the team, original research. You may not use Wikipedia as an avenue for releasing financial information. —C.Fred (talk) 06:56, 30 April 2010 (UTC)
- Thank you for your message on my talk page. There are several reasons this content is not appropriate for wikipedia:
- It is unclear what company you mean by "Henry's Bookstore". A reader unfamiliar with Henry's Bookstore would have trouble understanding the article.
- It is doubtful that a single year's raw accounting figures are notable enough according to our notability guidelines. Perhaps they could find a place as part of an article on Henry's Bookstore itself? In particular, Wikipedia is NOT an indiscriminate collection of statistics - there needs to be an actual reason to keep the data.
- As mentioned above, original research is not acceptable on wikipedia.
- Finally, I'm sure, as an accountant, you have better ways of preparing profit reports and reporting them to your client than posting them on an online encyclopedia. I'm sure email will work just fine to get them to your client. Or you can post them on your own webpage.
- Thanks, bd_ (talk) 06:59, 30 April 2010 (UTC)
- I agree whole-heartedly with Bdonlan on the last point: there are better ways to distribute your client's financials than to post them on an encyclopedia. You might want to look into Google's free Docs service, where you can prepare the document online and then share them with your client. —C.Fred (talk) 07:06, 30 April 2010 (UTC)
