Image Tagging Image:FlowerRdWalkers.jpg
[edit]This media may be deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading Image:FlowerRdWalkers.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL-self}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Shyam (T/C) 09:51, 12 March 2006 (UTC)
15 billion years?
[edit]Can you please tell us on Talk:Big bang where this new estimate for the age of the universe comes from? The current best estimate, from say the Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe three-year data, is 13.7 billion years. I have reverted your changes for now. –Joke 16:40, 27 August 2006 (UTC)

Re Lotus Grove
[edit]I'm sorry, I'm sure you love the place but what you have written is a local interest piece. In other words, I believe wikipedia is not the place to host an article about a minor housing complex in Sri Lanka. My main problem is the lack of notability. I originally wanted to tag it for deletion but decided to leave it be for now.
If you still want to try to keep the article, you have to show that this is not a personal opinion of Lotus Grove. It currently reads like a magazine article or personal essay. This means adding citations. For all we know, this place may not even exist! (I know it exists because I'm in SL but you get my point) For example, you can't say something is the first of its kind in Sri Lanka without proof.
Also, lines like the following do not belong in an encyclopedia:
"While of widely differing backgrounds the residents have many similarities and interests which comes naturally to such an exclusive community."
"Walking the 1.1 kilometre perimeter (and even elsewhere within), one can see a large variety of wildlife such as water habitat birds, large sized monitors, snakes and if lucky one may glimpse the rather elusive crocodiles living in the lake and waterways which make appearances from time to time but are rather shy which makes sightings difficult if there is too much noise."
Please see wikipedia guidelines on submitting original research and citing sources. --Kisholi (talk) 09:37, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
- Chill, its not like I gave you a deadline :) but you have got the right idea. Including those links plus a link to the main Ceylinco article will also help. Also, you can look at other pages on Wikipedia about housing complexes (e.g. Parkchester) for ideas about how to improve your article. Keep in mind though, that most of those articles will also be incomplete and imperfect. Good luck! Oh and I only add people I know in real life to Plaxo, sorry. --Kisholi (talk) 03:32, 7 August 2008 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of File:Dehiwala-Junction-small.jpg
[edit]A tag has been placed on File:Dehiwala-Junction-small.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. File:Dehiwala-Junction-small.jpg missing description details
[edit]If the information is not provided, the image may eventually be proposed for deletion, a situation which is not desirable, and which can easily be avoided.
If you have any questions please see Help:Image page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 15:22, 30 December 2011 (UTC)Nomination of Lotus Grove for deletion
