Oronoco, Minnesota
[edit]Your addition to the Oronoco, Minnesota article is copied from the town's website. Wikipedia can not accept text from other websites which is covered by copyright. Jonathunder (talk) 20:58, 26 October 2015 (UTC)
Can someone help me?

How do I know how many edits I have made. I am trying to make 10 edits in order to become a confirmed account user.
- You can click User contributions at the left. Clicking Preferences at the top also tells the amount of edits. Datbubblegumdoetalkcontribs 21:23, 26 October 2015 (UTC)
Copyright violations
[edit]Please stop adding copyright violations to Wikipedia. Your edit to Starbucks was copied from this page. Your edit to Typhoon Koppu (2015) was plagiarized from The Weather Channel. Your addition to Pine Island, Minnesota also appears to be simple copy and paste. In general, please don't do things here that would get you in trouble in your basic writing class. For now, your account is blocked, until you can tell us you understand that Wikipedia takes copyright violations seriously. Jonathunder (talk) 22:09, 26 October 2015 (UTC)
- You've plagiarized your work here from your very first edit. What are you trying to accomplish? Jonathunder (talk) 14:58, 27 October 2015 (UTC)
Honestly, I am not sure how Wikipedia works at all. I was told by my employer to make 10 quick edits so that I can become a confirmed user in order to upload our company logo and information to our company's page. I am not trying to plagiarize or take credit for anything. I was in a hurry and assumed that my edits would be disregarded or disapproved. Please let me know what I need to do to become a confirmed user.
Thanks, MeganKalene31 (talk) 14:31, 30 October 2015 (UTC)
Hello, Megan. I'm sorry you had a rough start here. If your organization wants to donate an image of its logo, that may be possible. Does this organization already have an article? Jonathunder (talk) 22:03, 30 October 2015 (UTC)
Yes. Here is the link to the article titled, "Well Living Lab": https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Well_Living_Lab
- If your organization is willing to donate a copy of its logo for use on Wikipedia, please see this page for instructions and send an email to "permissions-commons@wikimedia.org" Jonathunder (talk) 16:16, 4 November 2015 (UTC)

Request reason:
I was unaware of my copyright violations. I was not trying to copyright or plagiarize. I was simply trying to make 10 edits, which I assumed would be ignored/disregarded, in attempt to become a confirmed user in order to add a logo and company information for the company in which I am currently working. My supervisor told me to make 10 quick edits in order to be able to upload our logo to our article. I did not realize the negative impact of trying to copy and paste information into current articles in order to make 10 quick edits. I believe that the block in no longer necessary because I now realize why I was blocked, I will not do it again, and I will try to make productive contributions in the future. Please let me know what I can do to become unblocked and to become a confirmed user. Thank you. MeganKalene31 (talk) 17:11, 3 November 2015 (UTC)
Decline reason:
In other words, your edits that violated copyright policy were intended to be pointless ones that no one was supposed to scrutinize, and were solely so you would become autoconfirmed, which would enable you to edit in a manner that contravenes conflict of interest? While your honesty is appreciated, this sequence doesn't instill confidence that unblocking you would be beneficial to this encyclopedia. Kinu t/c 19:31, 3 November 2015 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
- Thank you for your honesty. Now that you understand that we do take copyrights and plagiarism seriously, I am willing to unblock you. I believe in second chances. However, I would recommend a couple of things. Per WP:COI, don't edit Well Living Lab directly. Instead, suggest improvements that you would like to see on Talk:Well Living Lab. Also, before uploading the organization's logo, email "permissions-commons@wikimedia.org" and ask a volunteer there to help you with the copyright release. Jonathunder (talk) 16:32, 4 November 2015 (UTC)
- I've also made you a confirmed user. If you would like help, please don't hesitate to ask. Jonathunder (talk) 16:37, 4 November 2015 (UTC)
- @Jonathunder: Given the conversation and my rationale for declining the above unblock request, an acknowledgement of WP:COI prior to unblocking might have been ideal. What's done is done, though. --Kinu t/c 23:13, 4 November 2015 (UTC)
