GEICO, ALLSTATE, ESURANCE, and etcetera are all thriving auto insurance companies with wiki pages. Instride's page is actually modeled after there wiki pages and it is interesting and informative. MeganFenstermaker 14:02, 30 October 2007 (UTC) I would appreciate an editor to take the time to look into this.
thanks, meg

How can a page be formatted just like others in its market? GEICO, Progressive, Esurance, Allstate and others have pages. Instride (AZ)is a beta and it's interesting so why can it not be included? MeganFenstermaker 18:45, 29 October 2007 (UTC)

Response to question about article : Instride
[edit]The article you created for Instride was tagged by me for WP:CSD#A7, which is No indication of importance/significance. All articles must assert the notability and/or importance of the subject matter. While I can't recall the exact content of the article, I believe there we no reliable 3rd party sources. Links to other articles are always good, but external sources are also required to verify statements, and for general notability. Hope that helps a little. ARendedWinter 08:32, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
Thank you Arendedwinder that actually helps a lot. Thank you for your suggestion too. I will add more third party external links to enhance the article. MeganFenstermaker 14:37, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
Please stop. If you continue to ignore our policies by introducing inappropriate pages to Wikipedia, such as Instride, you will be blocked. Repeatedly recreating this article does no good, and it will just keep getting deleted for the same reason. Pyrospirit (talk · contribs) 13:53, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
- Can I just clarify whether it was you who recreated the article 3 times following speedy deletion? Mayalld 14:28, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
- It was this same user who recreated it each time after it was speedied. Pyrospirit (talk · contribs) 14:43, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
- In which case, particularly given that the user seems hell-bent on creating articles based on personal opinion as to what articles should exist, regardless of policy, a ban seems inevitable Mayalld 15:09, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
Wikipedia is an open user friendly forum and I disagree with your opinion. I appreciate that you don't feel the significance of the article but I like it. MeganFenstermaker 14:37, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
- Actually, that is incorrect—Wikipedia is not a forum. Also, just saying you like an article is not a valid reason to keep it; Wikipedia is based off of the neutral point of view, not individual opinions. Pyrospirit (talk · contribs) 14:48, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
- Please stop recreating the article. You are not providing any independent third party sources to prove its notability (see WP:NOTABILITY). Also, the fact that I am British has nothing to do with me deleting the article. If I found an article about a non-notable British insurance company I would also delete it. Yes, I usually know what I like and stick with it. Thank you for the correction. I feel like the page is significant. I also feel like there should be recognition that the company's counterparts all have wiki pages. MeganFenstermaker 14:54, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
You are free to know what you like. You are not free to impose what you like on Wikipedia. There is a whole raft of policy about what is and is not notable, and encyclopedic, which you must respect if you are to continue editing.
- Recreating the article repeatedly after it has been deleted in accordance with policy is edit/revert warring. You still won't get your own way, you will irritate a lot of people and probably end up blocked from editing.
- Complaining that you think it is significant is irrelevant. Unless the page asserts why it is relevant and contains sources to back up those assertions, your opinion doesn't count.
- Wikipedia operates on notability, not on "well all their competitors have pages"
Thuis far, you haven't had a good start as an editor. Stop, read up on policies, understand them, then decide if you can accept them. If you can, then good, start contributing again. If you can't, then walk away. Mayalld 15:09, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
Some Wikipedia spam hunters are good at telling you what not to do, not so good at telling you what to do. Can you find some newspaper stories or other published information about the company, that is not information by the company? Then write the article again, with full references. --Una Smith (talk) 00:04, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
Blanking
[edit]Please do NOT blank your talk page to remove warnings and an ongoing discussion Mayalld 15:09, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
You're not getting off to a good start here
[edit]Meg: Just because a company is interesting doesn't particularly make it notable. While Wikipedia is open to anyone for writing articles, the articles and subjects must still meet certain standards. Otherwise, we would have articles on every little business, club, person or whatever and Wikipedia would become an unmanageable mess. It still seems like one, even with our best efforts to make it a proper online encyclopedia. But in fact, it is and encyclopedia and not Myspace, Facebook or personal web sites, nor is it a place to promote companies (or promote anything, for that matter).
Allstate, Geico and the like all have articles because they are notable, as recognized by independent sources such as the news media, magazines, journals and such. The company you wrote about is not independently recognized as being notable. That's why your article keeps being deleted. Your insistence at re-creating this article after it is deleted only serves to make you unwelcome and will likely result in you being blocked from further editing. Please read up on some of the resources in the blue links that I and others have noted in or messages. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 20:04, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
Hi. I fixed the link. Thanks for noting the problem on Talk:Ovarian cancer. --Una Smith (talk) 00:00, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
