A tag has been placed on Draft:Brian Chater, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. You have an obvious conflict of interest, please don't write about yourself, your friends or relatives and read the guidance below:

  • When you write about a person, you must provide independent verifiable sources to enable us to verify the facts and show that they meet the notability guidelines. Sources that are not acceptable include those linked to the person or an associated organisation, press releases, YouTube, IMDB, social media and other sites that can be self-edited, blogs, websites of unknown or non-reliable provenance, and sites that are just reporting what the person claims or interviewing them. Note that references should be in-line so we can tell what fact each is supporting, and should not be bare urls.
  • You must write in a non-promotional tone. Articles must be neutral and encyclopaedic, with verifiable facts, not opinions or reviews.
  • There shouldn't be any url links in the article, only in the "References" or "External links" sections.
  • You must not copy text from elsewhere. Copyrighted text is not allowed in Wikipedia, as outlined in this policy. That applies even to pages created by you or your organisation, unless they state clearly and explicitly that the text is public domain. We require that text posted here can be used, modified and distributed for any purpose, including commercial; text is considered to be copyright unless explicitly stated otherwise. There are ways to donate copyrighted text to Wikipedia, as described here; please note that simply asserting on the talk page that you are the owner of the copyright, or you have permission to use the text, isn't sufficient.

Before attempting to write an article again, please make sure that the topic meets the notability criteria linked above, and check that you can find independent third party sources. Also read Your first article. You must also reply to the COI request above. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 12:51, 16 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

More

[edit]

Your COI declaration should be on your user page. Virtually nothing in your draft conformed to our guidance.

  • You had a list of refs, but they weren't in-line so no idea what facts each was supporting, and they were unformatted bare urls
  • Remember that you must use independent third-party sources, not press releases or interviews with him
  • The lack of wikilinks, references and headings suggests that you have just cut and paste from another site, which will e a copyright violation. I didn't check, since the draft was unacceptable anyway
  • The tone is unencyclopaedic, writing about him as "Brian" isn't appropriate.
  • You must give verifiable facts, not opinions such as he was largely responsible for the success enjoyed ... Brian is also credited for the role he played in launching the career of Bryan Adams... Brian played a major role in advancing the interests of Canadian songwriters and music publishers... instrumental in launching two new copyright collectives... he took on the many challenges that independent Canadian songwriters faced... from the first couple of paras
  • Attributed quotes are acceptable, but for a biography they often aren't helpful. What people think of him isn't a criterion for notability, and cherry-picked quotes saying how wonderful he is just look spammy Jimfbleak - talk to me? 11:13, 17 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Have a look at Taylor Swift as a recent music bio. That's a featured article, so you don't need that level of detail, but it shows you what a music bio should look like.
Please read what I've put above, you had no wikilinks (I've put a few in) and no inline references at all. It's no good listing stuff at the bottom. See my article Emma Louisa Turner. Refs are in the text after the text they are verifying <ref name=> your ref </ref>, and you should use the cite web, cite journal or cite book templates as appropriate (ignore the Parry and Greenwood ones for now. Then a

at the end will generate the list. Also, you still have opinions and self praise, played a major role in advancing the interests... Widely respected as a tireless fighter... Chater took on the many challenges... Jimfbleak - talk to me? 10:45, 29 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Much better, although you still haven't put the COI declaration on your user page. You need to break your text into sections with headings, I've done the first one for you. You need to fix the errors in some of your refs shown in red. You can't use wikipedia a a ref, change those to wikilinks instead.
