Please do not add commercial links or links to your own private websites to Wikipedia, as you did in Subversion. Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or a mere collection of external links. You are, however, encouraged to add content instead of links as long as the content abides by our policies and guidelines. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. See the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia. Thanks.

I realize that you believe you are following the guidelines, but Wikipedia is not a vehicle for promotion. If you would like the link included, please ask on the talk page for support from neutral editors. Wmahan. 16:50, 25 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Reply: OK..! The external guidlines link is not one I had come across and am happy to abide by it. The point about neutrality is a valid one and the fact that the link has been removed by three different users leads me to believe that a consensus has been reached! I will endevour to get it added through merit at some point in the future as the rival commercial site "collabnet" have obviously managed at some point in the past. Thank you for abiding by the guidelines. My understanding is that Collabnet is the primary sponsor and maintainer of Subversion, so its link is directly relevant to the article. I'm not aware that the same is true for the company you want to link to. If you provide significant support for the development of Subversion I would reconsider my decision, but if you just want a plug for your company that's not a good reason for adding a link.
