Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Maya Kandler, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions, especially your edits to Three-domain system. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few links to pages you might find helpful:

You may also want to complete the Wikipedia Adventure, an interactive tour that will help you learn the basics of editing Wikipedia. You can visit the Teahouse to ask questions or seek help.

I notice from your user name that you may well be personally connected to the subjects of the articles you have been editing. If so, welcome, and be aware of two important things: 1) that editing Wikipedia is quite unlike writing a scientific paper. You may find the discussion by another scientist (not me) at File:Wikipedia editing for scientists Workshop.pdf helpful. 2) Wikipedia does not forbid editing when you have a personal interest in something, but the policy on conflict of interest, WP:COI, does ask you to be extremely careful. Please have a look at it.

Please remember to sign your messages on talk pages by typing four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask for help on your talk page, and a volunteer should respond shortly. Again, welcome! Help me!

[edit]

Hi Chiswick Chap,

thank you very much for your corrections and for your information about COI!

Please help me with the COI problem. Yes, I'm Otto Kandler's daughter but I act only as kind of a secretary. Four of my father's former coworkers and colleagues wrote obituaries: Erwin Beck,[1] Susanne Renner,[2] Karl-Heinz Schleifer,[3] Widmar Tanner,[4]

In addition, there are 2 biographies (Hans E. Müller 1998,[5] Karl-Heinz Schleifer 2011[6]) and a detailed dokumentation of Kandler's contribution in the development of the three domain concept (Jan Sapp, 2009[7]).

However they either don't have the time or the technical knowledge to write for Wikipedia (Susanne Renner helped me with my first steps in Wikipedia and encouraged me to write). This is the reason why I include so many references. So everybody may control my contributions. I hope, that's ok for you? All the best Maya Kandler (talk) 14:34, 26 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I think it's coming along fine, and the references are absolutely right and proper. Chiswick Chap (talk) 14:50, 26 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
