Date styles
[edit]We have for policies for era styles, see WP:ERA before deciding to change any more. Heiro 04:01, 21 September 2019 (UTC)
- Please do not change the date styles of an article again. Heiro 04:02, 21 September 2019 (UTC)
I was changing the date style to what was referenced in the original citation. Otherwise, confusion may occur. Maxweljc (talk) 07:27, 21 September 2019 (UTC)

Duplicate post by accident—sorry! Maxweljc (talk) 07:29, 21 September 2019 (UTC)
- But we don't determine date style by sources - in fact that would often be impossible as different sources might use different era styles. Just as in American language articles we use MDY even if it's a British source using DMY. Doug Weller talk 13:15, 21 September 2019 (UTC)
- Now that you have had our policies explained to you by 2 experienced editors here, would you mind se[f reverting your last change? And you might also want to read WP:BRD ( Bold, Revert, Discuss, our policies for what to do when people revert your edits) And also WP:3RR? I reverted your edit twice, and left you links to policies each time, and yet you reverted it again. Heiro 13:25, 21 September 2019 (UTC)

[edit]Your recent editing history at Serpent Mound shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See the bold, revert, discuss cycle for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.
Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. Dishonest edit summary and ridiculous reasons to change edit style
[edit]At Indiana Dunes National Park you tried to change the dates saying BC/AD was more in keeping with the state of Indiana. When that was reverted you came back with a new excuse about the National Park Service usually using BC/AD because no one outside of academia knows about BCE means. Are you really an academic? A lot of onon-academics actually know what it means. So does the National Park Service.[1]
But then at [[Freestone County Texas you made another change calling it a "typo" - but previous edits show that you knew BCE isn't a typo for BC, so that appears to be a lie.
You are clearly on a campaign to change era styles and besides using specious reasons, eg that a particular source used BC and the above, you are lying in edit summaries. I'm giving you a short block because of that, but if you do it again I'll assume you aren't actually here to improve the encyclopedia and will block you indefinitely, which actually means until and if another Administrator grants an appeal. . Doug Weller talk 14:18, 22 September 2019 (UTC)Problem with your custom signature
[edit]You have a custom signature set in your account preferences. A change to Wikipedia's software has made your current custom signature incompatible with the software.
The problem: Your preferences are set to interpret your custom signature as wikitext. However, your current custom signature does not contain any wikitext.
The solutions: You can reset your signature to the default, or you can fix your signature.
- Solution 1: Reset your signature to the default:
- Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
- Uncheck the box (☑︎→☐) that says "Treat the above as wiki markup."
- Remove anything in the Signature: text box. (It might already be empty.)
- Click the blue "Save" button at the bottom of the page. (The red "Restore all default settings" button will reset all of your preference settings, not just the signature.)
- Solution 2: Fix your custom signature:
- Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
- Uncheck the box (☑︎→☐) that says "Treat the above as wiki markup."
- Click the blue "Save" button at the bottom of the page.
More information about custom signatures is available at Wikipedia:Signatures#Customizing how everyone sees your signature. If you have followed these instructions and still want help, please leave a message at Wikipedia talk:Signatures. Thank you. 18:03, 7 September 2020 (UTC)
