Iranian actresses
[edit]Hi,
Responding to your comment on my talk page. I'm very happy to support the creation of relevant articles on Iranian women of note (though I don't have the necessary knowledge to take an active part in this). However, the debate at CFD is not about the creation of articles, it is about the grouping of such articles into gender-related categories. This is contrary to the policy on the creation of categories.
IMO, it is also counter-productive to your stated intention of raising the profile of Iranian women on Wikipedia as it puts them into gender-related "ghettos" within the categorisation system. If I'm interested in Iranian actors (of either gender) I would go into the category called "Iranian actors" and expect to see all the articles about male and female actors from Iran as it is standard to group both male and female actors into the same cat. If I saw no female actors, I might reasonably assume - based on the way other actor categories work - that there are no such articles on WP as they are not in the appropriate cat.
BTW, no I am not Greek. My user name is a Latinised form of my real (Celtic) surname. Valiantis 13:31, 21 April 2006 (UTC)
Iranian tourism links
[edit]I have removed "tourist" links placed on a number of pages by you. I have removed the same links placed by an IP address in the past and there is a discussion on that talk page 217.219.229.3 (talk · contribs) and mine about them. McAfee SiteAdvisor suggest that the first site that you get to before the final site may well be insecure. From both a spam point of view and people trust in wiki thse links are not appropriate. (If you are the person who has posted them from the IP address you will be aware of the discussion & my views anyway). Thanks -- Nigel (Talk) 12:07, 31 August 2006 (UTC)
