VandalProof 1.1 is Now Available For Download
[edit]Happy Easter to all of you, and I hope that this version may fix your current problems and perhaps provide you with a few useful new tools. You can download version 1.1 at User:AmiDaniel/VandalProof. Let me warn you, however, to please be extremely careful when using the new Rollback All Contributions feature, as, aside from the excessive server lag it would cause if everyone began using it at once, it could seriously aggitate several editors to have their contributions reverted. If you would like to experiment with it, though, I'd be more than happy to use my many sockpuppets to create some "vandalism" for you to revert. If you have any problems downloading, installing, or otherwise, please tell me about them at User:AmiDaniel/VP/Bugs and I will do my best to help you. Thanks. AmiDaniel (Talk) 06:48, 16 April 2006 (UTC)

Re: Art Apicella
[edit]AfD's usually stay open for 5 days or so before they're closed. Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Art Apicella has only been open for 4 days, so it needs to go through another day of discussion to form clearer consensus. I'd be happy to close it for you tomorrow or extend the AfD if needed. Regards, Sango123 (e) 21:48, 17 April 2006 (UTC)
- You can userfy it if consensus dictates so. Right now, the AfD discussion is leaning more towards "delete", but since only three people (other than you, the nominator) have offered their input, it might need to be {{relist}}ed. Thoughts? Sango123 (e) 22:32, 17 April 2006 (UTC)
- Ah, I see. Relisting it only crossed my mind because there's only been one vote to "userfy" so far, so how's this: MoP moves or copy/pastes Art Apicella to User:Artapi, leaves a message for the article's author about the AfD and user page, and then has me or someone else close the AfD and delete the redirected article right after. :) Sango123 (e) 22:58, 17 April 2006 (UTC)
- Nice work! :D I've closed the AfD (a bit early) and deleted the article. Thanks for the cookie, by the way! Cheers, Sango123 (e) 01:35, 18 April 2006 (UTC)

But somehow I managed to ascend to Administrator and Bureaucrat :P I guess it's good that I got in when the project was relatively new [not even 2 years old], so I'm sort of like the ambient noise that everyone ignores :P — Ilyanep (Talk) 01:36, 19 April 2006 (UTC)
- It definately is a good thing. I only became bureaucrat when they instituted the position, October 2004, which was when I was 13 :P — Ilyanep (Talk) 01:41, 19 April 2006 (UTC)

Assuming good faith
[edit]If I were to click on the random page button and found an article with random gibberish in it, what should I do about the user/IP who added it? I want to assume good faith but I'm not sure exactly what to do. Up until this point, I gave people who did things like these the {{subst:test#}} warnings. Is this a bad idea or am I doing things correctly? Evan Robidoux 21:22, 19 April 2006 (UTC)

Esperenza
[edit]Hello - I just signed up for Esperenza, and saw the guideline that says 150+ edits is needed. I know I have 200+ from looking at the "your contributions" page, but when I click on the {count} thing next to my name in the member list, I see only 12 edits. Any explanation? Mrmaroon25

Factions

Gaile Gray is an important part of the game, if you play the game in any way you may find that maybe I thinky ou should provide a reason for removing it.
Thank You.
She is notable... for the fact she is the link between the game developers and the players... I think this article is about the game? She is an important part of the game... you cant exclude something important ot the game in an article that is about the game. Anyone who plays the game understands that. If someone was to research about the game using wikipedia as a source, you may find that mentioning her in maybe an essay on "Computer Game Culture and Society." could be important although the same can be said for many things. I think that this is common problem on wikipeida. What is and what is not important. I just had to go through this wikipedia article fixing all sorts of small problems... Wikipedia is indeed a place of information, I believe that if something is important to the article or to the topic of the article it should be included, the fact that it has nothing to do with gaile gray and more about the society of the game, I guess a different topic could be thought of. Maybe I should write a area on the "Society" of people who play the game? Hm. Though I didnt really want to do more research into the game than I have for my recent university assignment, heh.
User page vandalism
[edit]I write to thank you very kindly for having reverted a good deal of vandalism to my user page last week; I ought to have written sooner but have been editing only cursorily the past few days in view of my having been collaterally affected by several rangeblocks. The perils of one's having a dynamic IP, I suppose. In any case, many thanks... :) Joe 02:54, 20 April 2006 (UTC)

Question about info found on other sitesm
[edit]I found some information about a chemical compound (antimony pentafluoride) that I want to add to its article. Am I allowed to add things from other sites onto the articles, and if so are there any rules that state what to do with that info? [edit]Thanks for the help concerning deletion! One more thing...when I add the template for deletion/speedy deletion, should I (and do I have to) also add it to lists like the articles for deletion page? Keppa 01:34, 21 April 2006 (UTC)
Here's the thing
[edit]Here's the thing about having people divided up. Many Star Wars editors are new to the encyclopedia. I'm really planning on using the concept of "out of universe perspective" to realy morph the Star Wars articles into encyclopedia articles, leaving the details up to Wookieepedia. It's such a difficult balance to attain, so just forget what I just said ;)
Anyway, I think our major concerns should be
- Expanding info about books, etc.
- Trimming info about characters, etc.
- Seriously revamping the video game pages
- Compressing information

Hi, remember me? Also, about Esperanza...
[edit]I remember that you offered to mentor me last month, but someone stipulated that whoever wanted to mentor me had to be an admin. Thanks for the offer though. I thought that was kind and I ought to nominate you for adminship sometime. (I'm not entirely sure how yet.)
Now, about Esperanza. Celestianpower told me that if I show consistently that I've reformed, s/he will "investigate the case in a couple of months time..." I'm curious- do you know any user currently in Esperanza that was previously blocked? I'd like to know more about them and see how they reformed, etc.
Lets hope I can impress him/her enough! *prays for it* --Shultz IV 09:57, 22 April 2006 (UTC)
