Sorting
[edit]Hi! What do you think about sorting articles within sections alphabetically? It would be more convenient, because sometimes similar articles are spread over the page. I can do that (example: first section), but I wanted to ask first. -- Alfie±Talk 15:32, 12 July 2009 (UTC)
- That would be fine with me. Go for it. MastCell Talk 19:22, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
- Done. -- Alfie±Talk 22:54, 20 July 2009 (UTC)
Bot
[edit]So apparently there are some bots that update redirects. Should we look into finding one for the 'permanent redirect' links? WhatamIdoing (talk) 23:23, 12 October 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah, that would be a good idea. It would be pretty easy to code up a bot to do that, but then I'd have to test it, get it approved, and all. If someone more technically savvy has something already up and running, we should see if we could borrow it. MastCell Talk 03:34, 13 October 2009 (UTC)
- Unfortunatelly FDA's IT-people are to lazy (stupid?) to set up their redirects properly. In many (most?) cases the redirect leads not to the aimed deeplink, but to an overview only. See also my comments at WP:MED Talk Archive 14. Since the request for help at WP:MED Talk is moved to the archive regularily, we should remind our colleagues from time to time. —Alfie±Talk 11:09, 13 October 2009 (UTC)
- Even adding links to the general area is an improvement over links to dead pages. (They don't have to remove the old links.) Perhaps the BAG would know about a link-searching/updating bot. WhatamIdoing (talk) 01:47, 19 October 2009 (UTC)
- Hi! You are right, if old links can be preserved (for the next generation of URL-fixers). BTW, who/what's BAG? →Alfie±Talk 16:36, 21 October 2009 (UTC)
- WP:BAG is the bot-approval group. All bots must have formal approval from BAG before being used on Wikipedia. Consequently, they know who owns all the (legal ;-) bots, and what these bots can do. WhatamIdoing (talk) 04:01, 22 October 2009 (UTC)
- Sneeked around, interesting spot! I cann't set up a bot myself (well I don't have the time), can you? Or shall we ask at WP:BTR? →Alfie±Talk 22:55, 23 October 2009 (UTC)
- Why don't you ask at WP:BOTREQ? I think you're best positioned to describe what we need. WhatamIdoing (talk) 02:10, 24 October 2009 (UTC)
