Retired hurt
[edit]Hi - In answer to your question, yes retired hurt is very much counted as not out (the batter was not dismissed and could have resumed his/her innings if recovered). You'll see in this case that she shows as not out in her profile when you look at recent games. Bs1jac (talk) 13:14, 16 November 2021 (UTC)

I don't have multiple accounts, I only have this one; I certainly didn't do any kind of disruptive editing in good faith, and even my contributions show nothing of the sort as far as I can see. I do not know who User:Cambria Math is. I mostly contribute in Bangla Wikipedia only, about cricket. Please review this, I'll be grateful. Mashfi23 (talk) 00:15, 29 November 2021 (UTC)
Decline reason:
This does not address the issues raised in the SPI, which seem compelling to me. I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 07:51, 29 November 2021 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
- There is also no need to email me, Mashfi23. You can ask anything you need to here. I would recommend reviewing this guide before appealing again. I should also note that this block has nothing to do with Bangla Wikipedia and is solely for the English Wikipedia. --TheSandDoctor Talk 14:38, 29 November 2021 (UTC)
- @TheSandDoctor: Thank you for letting me know. As I see what User:Lugnuts has to say about my editing in the SPI, I'm honestly surprised. I did all the edits they mentioned in good faith, with my only intention being contributing to the articles with information from valid sources. I wish to go over the mentioned edits one by one.
- This, this, this and this were all me correcting mistakes and/or adding missing information I noticed in the articles. I got my information from ESPNcricinfo, which is what English Wikipedia usually uses as the main source for cricket-related articles (many links to ESPNcricinfo pages are used the cricket articles).
- My editing in the article Fariha Trisna was strictly me correcting a wrong link. I noticed that the pre-existing link went to the wrong page, so I corrected the link. The edits in the edit history of that page can be compared for validation.
- The accusation relating to the template edit User:Lugnuts mentioned has genuinely shocked me, because that template is of a sports points table and I updated it after each match was completed. I thought that was the purpose of a sports points table- to show the updated standings as soon as possible.
- This edit was just me updating a match's result and score details after the match happened.
- This I think is the only time I genuinely made a mistake as I didn't see the other user mentioning User:Lugnuts in their message. I'm really sorry for this.
- I honestly don't know what was disruptive in the edits User:Lugnuts mentioned. I have never followed around the edits of User:Lugnuts; I just like the sport of cricket and User:Lugnuts just happens to be the main contributor in the cricket-related articles. And as for sockpuppetry, this account is and always has been my only account. I don't know anyone of User:Cambria Math, User:A.A Prinon and User:Orbit Wharf. I wish I could prove it; if you happen to know any way I am able to prove it then I will gladly oblige. I only wish that you review my recent contributions again and maybe think about my words. And if there indeed was a problem regarding my contributions, I wish you would let me know what the problem is. Thank you. Mashfi23 (talk) 16:46, 29 November 2021 (UTC)
- Feel free to appeal and another administrator will consider this. --TheSandDoctor Talk 06:53, 30 November 2021 (UTC)

I believe I have been blocked for the wrong reasons. I have given my response to the accusations brought up in the SPI above in my talk page. I hope someone can consider this again. Thank you. Mashfi23 (talk) 10:53, 30 November 2021 (UTC)

- @TheSandDoctor and TheresNoTime: After reading the entirety of the SPI archive, I am inclined to unblock. Lugnuts is an extremely active WP:CRIC member and created literally thousands upon thousands of articles, and given cricket is Mashfi23's main focus here, it would make sense for these two users to intersect on some of them. Lugnuts seemed to think that making an edit to a page he created or editing the same article right after him is evidence of sockpuppetry, when that's simply not the case. I can kind of understand where he's coming from - sometimes when you feel like you're being followed around, you misjudge just how obscure a page is, and anyone who hasn't been here for ten years now looks like a sock. Mashfi23's explanation is believable enough to me and I would like to unblock, but the "highly likely" CU result gives me pause. I know the CU tool can be tricky when it comes to certain parts of the world. Maybe we could get another check? Sro23 (talk) 18:57, 8 January 2022 (UTC)

Caught by an open proxy block but this host or IP is not an open proxy. My IP address is 103.141.174.13. It appears that my internet provider has changed the IP address suddenly, because the block on this address started on March, and I had used our home internet to edit Wikipedia articles up until early May (I went outside for a trip of about twenty days after that). I'll appreciate if someone considers this. Thanks. Mashfi23 (talk) 10:12, 4 June 2022 (UTC)

- @Yamla: Thanks for reviewing my request. Can't say it's fair to not let me edit because of something sketchy my internet provider did (whom I don't even know personally), but I guess you're just doing what you're supposed to do after checking the IP address. Saudari
[edit]Hi. I am taking a few days off later this week and hoping to get out and about, so wont be doing as much on wiki. Would be great if you could set up 2022 Saudari Cup when sources are found. So far I have only seen czarsports and this on Facebook, so need more. Can also look at 2019 Saudari Cup for a reference for a sentence about who won last time. Also, if you could do Bulgaria in Serbia that would be good... although very possible it will be harder to find enough references for this one. Only source so far is on the BCF Facebook, which states 4 games... but they have told me its 3 T20I followed by a practice game. Bs1jac (talk) 20:06, 4 July 2022 (UTC)
- @Bs1jac: Will definitely look for sources about the Saudari Cup in these couple of days. Might have to rely on ESPNcricinfo for confirmation about the practice match though; it's unlikely we'll get a source. Thank you Mashfi23 (talk) 06:08, 5 July 2022 (UTC)
women's cricket
[edit]Hi. I have been thinking for some months about stopping writing "women" in match/toss results. The teams template and tables do not show it, and obviously if the article is about a women's series, the team is the women's team. What do you think about this going forward? Of course we still say T20I (not MT20I) and WT20I, so we'd still be far from perfect, but a good starting point in my opinion. Previously when anyone has made this change it has been reverted, but I wonder if now might be the time to make a concerted effort? As regular editors, we would need to be in agreement for it to work. Bs1jac (talk) 22:25, 18 September 2022 (UTC)
- @Bs1jac: Defaulting nothing mentioned to "men" was something I never liked, so I would be fully on-board with this idea (women's T20Is had started before men's!). I have been trying this out in the Bangla Wikipedia articles I work in (helped by the fact that the articles there were really inconsistent before). It would be ideal in my opinion to be completely consistent with the gender naming (using both "Men's" or "Women's" when it's required and dropping both when the context makes the words redundant) in all places, but yes- this will indeed be a good starting point. মাশ্ফী※Mashfi (ETP) 04:41, 19 September 2022 (UTC)
Women's T20 asia cup
[edit]why u deleted stats section on this page ? RAJESHWARxSINGH (talk) 03:56, 4 October 2022 (UTC)
- Hi, thanks for asking. As per tradition, statistics should be added only after the end of the tournament. If possible, let the stats section be commented out for now and get it out after the final match. মাশ্ফী※Mashfi (ETP) 04:03, 4 October 2022 (UTC)
ok, i will add after final match. RAJESHWARxSINGH (talk) 04:09, 4 October 2022 (UTC)
- @Mashfi23 the fact that i have mentioned that thailand for the 1st time won against pakistan is important event, earlier in men's 2022 asia cup page their are several such facts mentioned 2022 Asia Cup RAJESHWARxSINGH (talk) 06:29, 6 October 2022 (UTC)
- @RAJESHWARxSINGH: The information is definitely important and worth mentioning, but just not with the match summary. Mention it in an appropriate place (such as the Thailand team article) with proper grammar and a reference. মাশ্ফী※Mashfi (ETP) 06:57, 6 October 2022 (UTC)
New Zealand Time Zone
[edit]I know you got the point, the time getting dark is called night. If you search about NZ weather, simply you can find SUNRISE times ranging from 5.50 to 7 40 a.m. Likewise, SUNSET times ranging from 5.12 to 8.16 p.m., It varies upon different months. In New Zealand, If you start an T20I in April (SUNSET 5.14 p.m.) to call it a Night match and in Oct – Dec (SUNSET around 7–8 p.m.) to call it a day/night match, are we weather forecasting here? Universally beyond 6–7 p.m. irrespective of the time zone and country that's what we (or any cricket source) follow it as start of night. You can't change, only because you're there and wait for the SUN to set, seeing your clock (IDK). Specific cases are there can you follow the specific rather than going common? (I.e. Apr NZ match & Dec NZ match) Hope you understand, Thanks. Kirubar (talk) 11:53, 9 October 2022 (UTC)
- @Kirubar: Appreciate your message here. Now I don't live in New Zealand of course, but online sources are mentioning the current sunset time in Christchurch being about half an hour after the matches started. And I'm seeing that it's all daylight at the start of the match. It appeared to me that ESPNcricinfo is using a common time for all places in the world to determine whether a match should be considered day-night or not, and such an approach should be wrong for obvious reasons. Thus, I was just trying to put in the correct information after assessing the specific conditions of the match day. মাশ্ফী※Mashfi (ETP) 12:26, 9 October 2022 (UTC)
Thailand series
[edit]I see what you mean about the venue. I dont have any additional info, so suggest leaving it for now and see what Cricinfo does. Might it be another name for the same place (probably not, but maybe). I dont plan to do much/any live work on this one as im focusing on the qualifier (and dont want to spend too much time ontbe screen!) but will check in later for stats on team and record pages. Bs1jac (talk) 21:11, 18 November 2022 (UTC)
- @Bs1jac: From what I saw in Google Maps, they are definitely not the same venue- the school ground is in Huai Sai and the golf resort is in Mae Faek (both a few miles north of Chiang Mai city). Seen as different in this article too. But again, as you suggest, can wait and hope for ESPNcricinfo to get the correct info (whatever it might be). মাশ্ফী※Mashfi (ETP) 21:16, 18 November 2022 (UTC)
- Ah well yes if they have both been used before, does look like at least some of the games have moved. Sure CI will get that info at some point. Bs1jac (talk) 21:19, 18 November 2022 (UTC)

Ridiculous
[edit]I can't believe and expect this from a 11 year old Wikipedian. Why are you changing even every letter now and then? Thinking or doing smart? I'm tired of maintaining uniformity. Normalty and Grammar is there, I know. If something against that being followed here, then you should understand there is a consensus before or discussion before, also it wasn't totally wrong at all. It can be written in many perspectives. But follow what already being followed. U can't go back and search the archives daily. Try and maintain the uniformity. E.g day 1 in a sentence it's ok. Stumps, Day 1 Is this wrong? How ridiculous!!! Kirubar (talk) 15:29, 1 December 2022 (UTC)
- Don't think "day" is ever used as proper noun in this regard (it's not like the first day of a Test has a brand name: "Day 1") but you do you, I guess মাশ্ফী※Mashfi (ETP) 15:50, 1 December 2022 (UTC)
It's your perception. In a 5 Day test match, all the events notated by day's play. It's particularly specifically like a brand. If not why did you even consider lost overs on day 1? Put that at last 65 overs lost in this Test due to bad light. But in this regard I followed what our veterans followed. Simple. Kirubar (talk) 00:55, 2 December 2022 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for June 27
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited International cricket in 2023, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Sean Williams. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Surname
[edit]Wikipedia's Manual of Style says, after the initial mention, to refer to a person by surname only. If there's any question about what a person's surname is, I suggest consulting the Asiatic Society of Bangladesh's Banglapedia. Examples: Rahman instead of Mujibur Rahman, Rahman instead of Ziaur Rahman, Islam instead of Nazrul Islam. --Worldbruce (talk) 07:38, 27 June 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks for this message. The names you mentioned are Arabic compound/theophoric names and cannot be separated by the space given in the common English spelling. "Rahman", "Islam" and the like in these names are not supposed to be separate words linguistically and thus not surnames- which is what I tried to correct in those articles (while also trying to follow WP:SURNAME). মাশ্ফী※Mashfi (ETP) 08:09, 27 June 2023 (UTC)

- Ps: Didn't realise that you had created the original redirect. Just to note, I hope this does get a page eventually (with the Mdina Cup included as well) but it does not currently meet any criteria to satisfy the admins. I tried restoring the redirect once, but do not want an edit war with an editor hence the AfD. Bs1jac (talk) 15:37, 13 July 2023 (UTC)
- Didn't even see that you added something to your original message in the deletion discussion before I added what turned out to be basically the same thing. Bah! But yes, I hope to see a proper article for it too. Thanks for notifying me of this though মাশ্ফী※Mashfi (ETP) 15:49, 13 July 2023 (UTC)
- Regarding your note on this article, feel free to add the match summaries if you like. I am holding off in case the article is removed (the refs you have added today are an improvement but still wouldn't pass WP:GNG). Ps I added a sentence about the Mdina Cup... if the article is kept I would definitely add this as a subsection. Bs1jac (talk) 08:57, 14 July 2023 (UTC)

You can find information about these at our welcome page which also provides further information about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. - @Sportsfan 1234 May I know what exactly was "unconstructive" in my contribution? মাশ্ফী※Mashfi (ETP) 04:25, 24 September 2023 (UTC)
- There is no need to have a hat note to link the other parts of the tournament, when there is an infobox already on the article. We do not label quarter/semifinals as well. Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 04:26, 24 September 2023 (UTC)
- @Sportsfan 1234 Understood about the hatnote; the labels are understandable too but you should tell this to whoever added them first before straight up calling my edit "vandalism" (you are removing/changing proper information in the cricket match templates too while reverting my whole edit) মাশ্ফী※Mashfi (ETP) 04:29, 24 September 2023 (UTC)

Batter/batsman
[edit]There is no consensus from WT:CRIC to use batter over batsman in men's cricket articles such as 2023 Cricket World Cup squads. The last discussion was at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Cricket/Archive 91#Batter v Batsman, please feel free to start another discussion there, but get consensus before changing it in articles. T20Is or not
[edit]ICC Counting this T20 series (https://www.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ugandan_cricket_team_in_Namibia_in_2023) as internationals, while Cricinfo tagged them as otherT20 103.181.100.169 (talk) 08:37, 17 March 2024 (UTC)
- I addressed this in my edit summary here. Thanks for the concern though. মাশ্ফী※Mashfi (ETP) 10:30, 17 March 2024 (UTC)
