Melnikovo interwikis
MaryannaNesina 21:15, 9 July 2007 (UTC)
- Hi! Welcome! As to the fi-interwiki, it is not due to a bot. It has been included by me and I believe it is appropriate there. The articles are supposed to include information about the historic municipalities (parishes). We are not obliged to have one-to-one correspondence between articles in different Wikipedias. I think it would be unreasonable and not very reader-friendly to have two articles for each village and its history as the main village of a parish in Finland and don't see a reason why we should follow Russian Wikipedia in this respect. In some wikis some articles are more generic. E.g. fr:Paolo Taviani + fr:Vittorio Taviani (essentially duplicated information) => en:Paolo and Vittorio Taviani. Maryanna, please, don't delete these interwikis. I realize that as of now they may be confusing to iw-bots, but there should be some way to handle this, e.g. disambiguation pages in ru-Wiki (which are needed anyway). - Off cource no one should follow ru-wiki, but tell me than what is to be done there (in ru-wiki), as there are 2 articles: about the village and about "volost" - a set off villages, rulled by one municipality. Fi-wiki's article is about this "volost" (see the map there), en-wiki's article - just about one village. It]s not the same, isn't it? And one more thing - how do you sudjest to place interwiki in ru-wiki's two article, if they would led to 1 point in en-one? :) --MaryannaNesina 09:26, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
- I am not quite sure that this will not confuse the bots, but it should in principle be possible to add the same English interwiki to both pages as well as to the disambiguation page. The rules on interlanguage linking I have read are not very illuminating in this respect. We should ask someone with more knowledge, e.g. User:Ezhiki. The Russian volost is not a successor to the Finnish municipality in any sense other than loose topographic correspondence anyway. Colchicum 09:59, 11 July 2007 (UTC)

Your account will be renamed
[edit]Hello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called MaryannaNesina. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name MaryannaNesina~enwiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name. If you think you might own all of the accounts with this name and this message is in error, please visit Special:MergeAccount to check and attach all of your accounts to prevent them from being renamed.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell
