You have already found that French templates don't work on the English Wikipedia, so I would suggest getting your translation done first, and then asking for a review and assistance. I can help to review your translation, as I have a fair knowledge of French and a very good knowledge of English, and MelanieN or Ritchie333 can help with templates and other such things that I'm not a regular user of.
