A tag has been placed on Windells camp, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Whether or not you think it's not promotional, the article is a remarkably pure example of promotional prose, unacceptable for inclusion in an encyclopedia. Do you seriously think that "Windells is the "funnest" place on earth!" is neutral, non-promotional, encyclopedic prose? The article is also entirely unreferenced, apart from self-references that are not acceptable for anything but limited verification. Acroterion (talk) 19:47, 14 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Good job, especially finding those references. It's still a bit promotional - "mission statements" are generally sniffed at, but it's a reasonable outline. I've done a little formatting and tidying and found some references. The unique aspect of the place is noted in the AP/NYT article, and is what makes the place notable, along with the dry slopes. Those are the features that make it place wiki-notable. I looked around for references from the Portland Oregonian. Didn't find much of a serious journalistic nature, but surely there's something. The academic aspect is important, because schools are in general considered notable. I've moved the article to a sandbox at User:Marsha16/sandbox for development, as your userpage is really for information about your activities on Wikipedia, should you choose to share any such information, rather than as article development space. You may wish to expand on some points, provided you can source them from the Windells website or somewhere else, keeping in mind that encyclopedias are kind of, well, dry prosewise. Also, since Tim Windell was multi-year national champion, it certainly would make him notable enough for his own article. The only problem is that it was in the 1980s, so there was no online coverage, and it was the 1980s, when snowboarding was sneered at by the skiing press. Sources would be helpful. I'm not convinced that separate articles on the camp vs. the academy would be good. A single well-rounded article that covers both topics would probably be better than chopping it in two and making readers go back and forth. Keep in mind that off-line media are valid, so if Windell has clippings from back in the day, those would be valid references for his article. Offline sources or newspaper archives will be the place to find those. If you scan some clippings, I can help you out with formatting and attribution if you email the scans (go to "E-mail user on my talkpage). Don't post them here, because that would be a copyright violation. You can always start a separate draft for Tim in another user subpage, say, at User:Marsha16/Tim Windell. Can I attach files to the emails within Wikipedia? I was trying to find the option, but maybe I missed it. Tim had pretty good records of his career. Don't post scanned copies on Wikipedia - it's a copyright violation, and I had to delete that last one, since this is a free-content website that can't use anything that isn't published in the public domain or under the Creative Commons license. Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you must sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. Thank you for uploading File:TimWindell_halloffamearticle.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 22:47, 18 January 2011 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. Proposed deletion of Windells

The article Windells has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Questionably local camp as my searches found no better in-depth coverage aside from a few local articles and mentions here and there. The listed coverage is unlikely enough for a solidly better notable article.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
