two people on DYK (yesterday), both connected to Oper Frankfurt, and don't miss video of Pink Floyd given to me! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:03, 9 April 2022 (UTC)
Wikipedia:Main Page history/2022 April 13: the TFA is hard to overlook, but there are also peace prayers, a soprano and a theatre manager, - if you don't find them try here (with a link to that Ingmar Bergman film scene) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:41, 13 April 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks for all of these Gerda Arendt. I am finalizing my plans to see this concert next month. The performance is at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi (Santa Fe). I'm terrible at picture taking so I am glad the article gives you a nice look at the venue. Have a nice weekend. MarnetteD|Talk 15:13, 15 April 2022 (UTC)

- another Ukraine day today: Maks Levin DYK, expanding Kyiv Symphony Orchestra (have tickets), and creating Anthony Robin Schneider, the bass who could be heard opening the singing in Beethoven's Ninth twice on 10 March 2022, live in Frankfurt, Germany, and recorded in Auckland, New Zealand, singing "Freiheit!" (freedom) instead of "Freude" (joy), in a tradition started after the Fall of the Wall. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:59, 25 April 2022 (UTC)
- Very nice Gerda Arendt. You are certainly a busy bee. Thanks for all your work!! I'll leave you with this busy bee courtesy of Antonio and Bruno in appreciation. Enjoy. MarnetteD|Talk 19:24, 25 April 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you. I was impressed by quotes from the speech for the funeral, and "Every Ukrainian photographer dreams of taking a photo that will stop the war." - We had a rehearsal, and will get ready for an evensong on 22 May. Looking forward. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:21, 25 April 2022 (UTC)

- violin instead of voice, now you can listen to what I heard live yesterday: Kyiv Symphony Orchestra, Luigi Gaggero & Diana Tishchenko (violin) / Kulturpalast Dresden (25 April 2022 on YouTube (that's 25 April in Dresden, a different violinist, but the same program) - ours pictured here - dove sono as encore --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:54, 29 April 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you very much Gerda Arendt. I saved it until I could watch on my home theater tonight. I very special concert and I deeply appreciate you leaving me the link. MarnetteD|Talk 04:41, 30 April 2022 (UTC)

FYI, there's a related discussion at Wikipedia_talk:Manual_of_Style/Infoboxes#INFONAT. Regards.—Bagumba (talk) 02:03, 16 April 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks Bagumba. I thought I remembered that "when the country was obvious don't include it" happened long ago. Either I'm wrong (probable) or a new consensus replaced that (possible) at some point. I'll leave it alone and whatever is decided at that discussion is fine with me. I hope you enjoy the playoffs! MarnetteD|Talk 04:06, 16 April 2022 (UTC)
- Yeah. What some tout as progress others view as churn. And play-in stats dont count as playoff stats LOL.—Bagumba (talk) 04:16, 16 April 2022 (UTC)
Do you have an opinion on including/excluding an infobox at Rod Steiger? It's a big article, and it seems to me an infobox would be helpful. The spouses could always be pruned, as the editors in the archived discussion seem to have thought the original infobox was excessively long. But the article already has a long lead, so I don't think it unbalances the article. 𝕱𝖎𝖈𝖆𝖎𝖆 (talk) 19:41, 20 April 2022 (UTC)
- No opinion one way or the other Ficaia. This was a bone of contention in the past but my sense is that has dropped away over the years. IMO a RFC (apologies for my typo of RFD in the edit summary) will put a firm stamp on things and prevent edit warring. Best regards. MarnetteD|Talk 19:50, 20 April 2022 (UTC)
Helen Mirren
I hope there's no hard feelings. I reinstated a version of the edit of which you were making the point about WP:PUFFERY. I agree with you and I should not have reinstated that bit when I made the initial edit, so my apologies for that. I only reverted because as I stated in my edit summary, I was actually reverting the edit made by a user (who might I add has been making some questionable contributions as of lately) who removed the DOB without any valid reason. I also felt that the way they phrased some sentences were not very clear, at least not as much as they were before their edit, hence why I used 'ce' in my edit summary. Hopefully this can clear things up better. Cheers! — Film Enthusiast✉ 01:23, 21 April 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks for taking the time to let me know what is going on Film Enthusiast. An even bigger thanks for taking the time to be more thorough in your editing than I was. Cheers. MarnetteD|Talk 02:46, 21 April 2022 (UTC)
Thank you
Hello! Long time no speak - hope you are well. A belated thank you for your kind words the other day. Sad to see the Mostly retired banner at the top of your page. Your work here is always welcome. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 07:43, 1 May 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks for stopping by Lugnuts :-) You are welcome - I only wish I had done more. I think there is a trend to move the 'pedia from a "comprehensive encyclopedia" to a "compendium of the elite" and that has left me dispirited. That has a large impact on content creators such as yourself. To put it another way

May songs
Thank you for listening! - I have the quirky DYK today, which is rare, and I don't quite know why music for peace was deemed quirky. - I took and picked the blue-and-yellow pic last year for May. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:17, 3 May 2022 (UTC)

two songs today: Hey Hey Rise Up! (written by friends) and Glauben können wie du, sung by the person I have on DYK today, right below the other. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 10:58, 6 May 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks for these Gerda Arendt they are wonderful. The Chanticleer (ensemble) concert was special. They sang works ranging from Monteverdi to Muhly. The acoustics in the cathedral enhanced the whole experience. Best regards. MarnetteD|Talk 13:55, 9 May 2022 (UTC)

- Yes, and unusual. I was permitted to take pics during rehearsal, imagine! - The festival just gave us the Kyiv Symphony Orchestra, and having been invited for a snack by our president last year (among all guests of the opening concert after a summer without music) was a nice extra treat, pictured. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:57, 9 May 2022 (UTC)

On being bothered
FYI: I did "bother to look". I also bothered to look if these changes had also been made in any other recent edits and couldn't find any. It's a pity that you weren't bothered to appreciate that my reversions were justified given the lack of adequate reasons for the changes in the edit summaries. Afterwriting (talk) 05:53, 20 May 2022 (UTC)
- You quite obviously did not "bother to look." If you had you would have seen that the associated acts field does NOT show up in the infobox any more. Thus, your reversions were not justified nor was your snark to the editor that removed the field in the first place. When I first saw the edits I took the time (about 10 seconds) to check Template talk:Infobox musical artist#Remove associated acts?. That thread shows that Thrakkx edits and edit summaries were more than adequate. Please be more careful in the future. MarnetteD|Talk 11:47, 20 May 2022 (UTC)
Sorry for reverting you. I thought I was undoing the other now-blocked editor, but you beat me to it. Cheers! Magnolia677 (talk) 15:17, 26 May 2022 (UTC)

Claire Danes
I know you are retired, but as you said, things may change! I appreciate your many years of stewardship. Before I was a registered user, as an IP user, I found much of your work along the way. I have an RFC open on Claire Danes about a piece of content you worked on repeatedly for many years. I have WP:BLP and WP:PMC issues with the content also open for discussion at WP:BLPN and should you see this, and want to indulge, your presence and input would be greatly appreciated, and surely a huge benefit to the project. Cheers, and thanks again for your many years of service, regardless of whether or not you choose to participate in this discussion yet again. SquareInARoundHole (talk) 01:57, 8 June 2022 (UTC)
- I too a look SquareInARoundHole and that is the kind of thing I just don't have the energy for anymore. I compliment you for setting up the RFC and presenting things so thoroughly. Thank you also for the kind words. Best regards. MarnetteD|Talk 03:52, 11 June 2022 (UTC)

June music
Ukrainian peace music is "on" today, with the conductor! - Pentecost (on last Sunday and Monday in Germany) brought a rich harvest of great music in two church services (one with me singing in choir) and two concerts with my brother in the orchestra, - four pictures I took besides the symphonic one. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:50, 8 June 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you Gerta. I am going to catch this tomorrow though I may not see it live. Enjoy your weekend. MarnetteD|Talk 03:56, 11 June 2022 (UTC)

- Very nice Gerta. The entire competition is now available on the Tube of You. If you go to the 2 hour 46 minute mark Nombulelo Yende gives one of the most exquisite renditions of the Casta Diva I have ever heard. Cheers. MarnetteD|Talk 16:46, 12 June 2022 (UTC)

- Thanks for the kindness Gerta. Much appreciated. I recently watched several concerts by the Danish National Symphony Orchestra. The layout of the Koncerthuset is reminiscent of Denver's Boettcher Concert Hall which makes it easier for me to pretend to be there :-) They've introduced me to Tuva Semmingsen - another magnificent voice. Hey. I'm never quite sure myself if linking in the main article and the filmography rates as overlinking or not. Do as you please. 乾杯 Robert Kerber (talk) 06:36, 9 July 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks for your post Robert Kerber. As I look at it the paragraph where they are linked is fairly close to the filmography so I can see the logic in not linking them twice. Thanks again for creating the article. She was a wonderful performer who enhanced the films she appeared in. Best regards and enjoy the rest of your weekend. MarnetteD|Talk 15:50, 9 July 2022 (UTC)

August songs
The last week brought more outstanding concerts and bike tours, - how is your summer? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:45, 21 August 2022 (UTC)
- Aside from being much too hot in July and early August it has been okay Gerda Arendt. My Santa Fe Opera trip was wonderful. Their production of Barber was the funnest that I have ever seen. Isabel Leonard's Carmen was stellar as well. I hope you have a nice week. MarnetteD|Talk 19:54, 21 August 2022 (UTC)

- thank you - I got two times "jealous" for the most recent edition (one for Bruckner, one for VOCES8), and really think I'm blessed by this festival that I helped a bit in the beginning. I should update the article ... but keep being busy with the single pieces and artists. - 10 double basses in the youth orchestra, that's so promising! I took another pic of them afterwards, all hugging, but found that too private for WP. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 06:09, 28 August 2022 (UTC)

Today three DYK: a piece we'll perform on Sunday, a violinist we heard in June playing the Berg Concerto, and a Youth Orchestra shaped by a conductor who recently died. Almost too much of a good thing. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:26, 14 September 2022 (UTC)

Charles in charge...
Hey there! Regarding this edit, which I myself had previously reverted, it's been brought to my attention that it's really just claiming that Fry is friends with Charles, who obviously is now king. As such, do you think we've reverted in error? Should we talk it to the article's Talk page? Do you feel we should let our version (Prince) stand? Hope you've bene doing well and are enjoying your mostly-retirement! DonIago (talk) 01:52, 11 September 2022 (UTC)
- Hi Doniago. I hope you are well. I think the past/present tenses in the section may need some changing. For me they became friends while Charles was still PoW and that was through the "Prince's Trust." Maybe it just needs to read "he became friends with King Charles while he was PoW" or some such. It's late here and my brain is a bit foggy so whatever you think best is fine by me. Best regards. MarnetteD|Talk 02:22, 11 September 2022 (UTC)
- P.S. Your section header brings a grin. When I first read it I thought "Oh no - a question about I show that I never watched" :-) Cheers. MarnetteD|Talk 02:22, 11 September 2022 (UTC)
- I'm glad you enjoyed my phrasing! I'm less glad you tossed the matter back to me. :p I'll think it over then. DonIago (talk) 02:27, 11 September 2022 (UTC)

October music
Today is Erntedank in Germany, thanksgiving, and we celebrated our village's 650th anniversary, and had the dress rehearsal for Verdi's Requiem with an interesting band of marimba, piano, horn, bass, timpani and drum, - concert tomorrow, our national holiday. Seeing a pic I took on the Main page was also a nice harvest. -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:20, 2 October 2022 (UTC)

- These are all marvelous Gerda Arendt. Many thanks. I'm finding that, as much as I cherish the performances that singers give us, their work (teaching, inspiring etc) with young people may be a more important legacy. Recently, I've been following Joyce DiDonato's work with her EDEN program. Here is one example. Best regards. MarnetteD|Talk 18:17, 20 October 2022 (UTC)
