Yes I saw the edit earlier today. Exciting stuff. That is noon my time and 11 yours I think. Being a techno-dinosaur I haven't hooked up my computer to my TV and I've avoided streaming on my much smaller computer screen so I haven't snuck a look at B yet. From the ads I've seen it looks like Freema has been replace on L&O UK. I do enjoy watching it but I wish they would be allowed to write their own stories rather than having to follow the plots of the US series. Can't wait for all the goodies coming up. Cheers. Gosh I hadn't seen that it is going to be broadcast here at the same time. I checked my Comcast menu and it shows that it will be early in a Matt S marathon. Oh, yes! Big piece in the LA Times already, and it's on the BBC America website. As for Broadchurch, I'm toying with fetching AppleTV so I can stream from my iPad, then carrying it around the house, having just bought two new flat screen TVs to replace my dinosaur tube TVs upstairs. I already use my iPad to tune my cable boxes (how silly is that?) so it's a logical next step to stream via AppleTV. It's pretty inexpensive, too. Happily, I'm pretty tech-comfortable, so it shouldn't be difficult. Freema and Harriet Walter both had scheduling conflicts and left LO:UK. I love Patterson Joseph, so he should be great, but not familiar with Georgia Taylor. Any theories about who #12 is? I'd hoped they'd wait until after the 50th Anniversary special, but that didn't work out. BTW, did you get a chance to listen to the new Doctor Who Prom? I'm glad you moved to flat screens I think you will like the picture quality and ratio aspect. No real theories - the person has big shoes and bowed legs to fill :-) I have been telling friends it is hard to imagine that it will be somebody too big like Idris Alba. I mean they would have to take a three to four year chunk of their career to focus on all that goes with being the Doctor onscreen and off. Great news about the Prom. They have one with David and one with Matt on past DVD releases so I'll keep my fingers crossed that they do the same with this one. Did you find it online? I've had flat screen downstairs (42" plasma) I bought just before Kate and William got married, but I finally got fed up with the antiques upstairs when I got new cable boxes a couple weeks ago (my other boxes were so old the boys at the Time Warner store laughed!) So out they all went, and in with the new. Fabulous! Now to find an e-waste recycling events to get the TVs completely gone!!. The upstairs ones are both LED, one LG and one Panasonic, as is my plasma downstairs (I'm very brand-loyal to Panasonic). I did a TON of reading before I bought the big one to decide what format was best, and plasma won, hands down; but the little ones are wonderful in LED. As for the Doctor, a friend of mine thinks it's someone fairly big if they're making all this fuss, but I think it's more to do with the 50th Anniversary celebration. We shall see. Not a clue who it is, although my idea four choices are Simon Pegg, Eddie Izard, Richard Coyle, or Andy Serkis. Never happen x4. I'm not that lucky. The Prom was streamed online on Radio 3. Thanks for the link - much appreciated. Now, per my note below, have any of those four dropped off the grid? Eddie would be a hoot - Pat T's Doctor once dressed as a washerwoman. Now I am just jesting Eddie has turned in some excellent performances. Did you ever see The Cat's Meow where he plays Charlie Chaplin. He looks nothing like him but, as the film progresses, he really captures Chaplin's persona. Andy would lead to the inevitable "My preciousssss ssssonic sssscrewdriver" jokes but he has also given us some memorable characters that weren't motion captured. Did you see his performance in the Touching Evil 2 parter Innocence. He was marvelous playing Vincent van Gogh in Simon Schama's Power of Art. BTW I can't recommend that whole series highly enough it would look great on your plasma. Eddie's been touring on the continent; I follow him on Twitter. I did see Cat's Meow; it was on an HBO back channel a week or so ago, and I watched a bit again. Not sure about the others. The Hobbit has wrapped, but who knows how that affects Andy Serkis, since he's a body actor in Sfx. Oh, I so remember that Touching Evil he did, along with "The Pale Horse", where he played a Harry Palmer type DS back when he was just coming up. I've got to lay my hands on that art series!! Thanks so much. This will be the first time that those of us "across the pond" will find out the name of the actor taking over the role at the same time as everyone over there! I remember how exciting the 20th Anniversary was but social media and the increase in fans worldwide really has this one reaching extraordinary levels. Of course, the fact that the show was off the air at 30 and 40 adds to this. It is also amazing to be chatting with fans that weren't even born when I was scraping together enough money to get a plane ticket to go to Chicago to meet the actors and writers from the original series at the convention they held Nov 26th and 27th 1983. I think we can find out who it is. Just find out which actor has stopped tweeting and is being hidden in a hotel room in central London somewhere :-) Thanks again. He would be an excellent choice. From the very first moments of his screen career in Local Hero he has been eminently watchable. Prime Suspect 3, The Crow Road, The Thick of It his roles in Dr Who and Torchwood and I could go on - every single performance has been memorable. If Capaldi is chosen that would be the third Scot as the Doctor (four if Liverpudlian Paul's ancestors were there at some point) so when are we going to get a Welsh actor in the role? :-) Ah well "The suspense is terrible. How tight do you think the BBC security is?

Witha bit under 20 hours to go I find myself wondering howw far they are going with the secrecy. In the age of twitter there will undoubtedly be fans outside the studio checking out who is going in the building. Will they sneak them in under raincoat. Or maybe they will have several people entering that way to throw us off. Then I had a brainstorm that, if they really wanted to ratchet up the mystery/secrecy/anxiety they could do the reveal To Tell the Truth style. One of my abiding memories from Local Hero is his kissing his way down Marina's (the lovely Jenny Seagove) leg until he sees her webbed toes. You are correct about the age thing. When Gareth mentioned him I was a bit worried that his portrayal of the wonderfully foul mouthed Malcolm on The Thick of It might prevent them from casting him in a show watched by so many youngsters. I just went and did the math. Hartnell was 55 - that fact floors me cause he seems so much older - Pat was 46 - Jon was 52 - Tom was 40 - Peter was barely 30 - Colin was 41 - Sylvester was 43 - Paul 37 - Chris 41 - David 36 and Matt 26. Stunner! I knew Hartnell was younger than he appeared, but I didn't realize he was still in his 50s! So tied for oldest. Good on Moffat. You are welcome. There are some infoboxes that require the brackets to make a pic work and some that don't. Sometimes you just have to fiddle with them until you get it right. Nine missing episodes of 1960s Doctor Who have been found

Yes, it started when one of the UK's less-reputable newspapers claimed that over 100 episodes had been found in Ethiopia. As a result, there has been activity a-plenty since Sunday at Doctor Who, Doctor Who missing episodes, List of Doctor Who DVD and Blu-ray releases, The Enemy of the World, The Web of Fear; less so at Doctor Who (season 5), Patrick Troughton, Second Doctor; but possibly also elsewhere. I had to semi-prot some of them until 23:00 UTC because the anons simply did not get the idea of verifiability. Thanks for the link Gareth. Exciting stuff - especially with the 50th just a few weeks away. I am really looking forward to seeing Pat in his dual role in Enemy of the World. My commiserations went out to you RedRose as I watched all of the craziness going on with the various articles and talk pages. That brings up something else I have been thinking about. I suspect the viewing traffic will be going up on our Dr Who articles as we get closer to 23 Nov. I also suspect that vandalism will increase at the same time. I also know that we don't page protect ahead of time unless the circumstances are extraordinary. I think we should post a notice at the Dr Who wikiproject asking asking members to be aware of the increased likelihood of hits to the numerous articles. Now I suspect that most members will already be thinking about this so I am wondering if there is some other notice board to ask for extra eyes on our articles and maybe for some admins to be ready to protect pages as needed. Jackalope

Had a question about the Jackalope page/lure. the sentences "It is said that a jackalope may be caught by putting a flask of whiskey out at night. The jackalope will drink its fill of whiskey and its intoxication will make it easier to hunt" are not cited and have no references. thanks for your question. Articles about mythical creatures have more leeway than most since a chunk of the info about them is anecdotal. Having eaten at the hotel in Douglas, Wyoming many times in my life I know that I saw the info about whiskey on a post card at some point in time. I have never seen eggnog mentioned as a lure. I would suggest that you add a {{cn|date=October 2013}} tag rather than remove the item. But it is up to you. MarnetteD | Talk 16:09, 17 October 2013 (UTC)

Re: Question

The edits originally added in November 2010 were completely ripped from a website, so I had to restore the most recent copyright-free revision I could find. Unfortunately, in situations like this, that means any good edits made in the meantime get caught in the crossfire, and there's no easy way to separate the two. I try not to do that unless I have to, and the copyright issues were big enough in Night of the Seagulls that I had no choice. Of course, the deleted revisions are not a shot on anyone that made edits there in 2011/12/13. Wizardman 14:22, 19 October 2013 (UTC)

You can make a bot request at WP:BOTREQ, it will most likely require a bot operator to file a bot request for approval, which will take some time. There may be some resistance to starting immediately, unless you have broader prior consensus, for example from the external link notice board or something related. However, I would say that the deletion of all Ymovies templates would be a good start in demonstrating consensus, and could be enough since it is just an untemplated version of the template that was deleted. Monday's Castle

Aloha! I can't recall whether you watch Castle or not, but Monday's episode features a character who believes he's a time traveler. Castle plays with sci-fi related genres a couple times each season, and this should be fertile ground for a possible Doctor Who references. Might be worth a glance. Wonderful - thanks for letting me know. I have been following Nathan since he was Captain Tightpants and was real shiny. I have missed a few episodes of Castle over the years but reruns on TNT always give me a chance to catch up. Otherwise things are going well and I am enjoying our fall weather and the new season of POI. Also excitement is growing as I count off the days to the Dr's 50th shindig. Many cheers to you!! I haven't seen a new one on BBCA yet but if it is like this one it must be exciting. My DVD copy of The Tenth Planet arrived today so tomorrow will be fun. Well rats. It is always nice to have OnDemand to fall back on. Last spring I had a problem with programs that I had set my DVR to record getting dropped. Turned out the cable box was going bad and I had to replace it. Only drag about that is you lose any programs that you had saved :-( MarnetteD | Talk 17:33, 22 October 2013 (UTC)

It is an American celebration that has been adopted in the UK with enormous enthusiasm. My next-door neighbour has seven candle-lit pumpkins outside. Good to hear - it can be such fun and the clever things they can do with pumpkin carvings are amazing. I saw one several years ago where the pumpkin was carved to look like jail cell and there was a second smaller pumpkin inside carved to be the ghoulish prisoner. I plan on watching my DVD of Louis Jourdan's Count Dracula (1977 film). It is still my favorite. I think it stays closer to the book and Jack Shepherd's performance as Renfield is excellent. Absolutely. He toured in a revival of that musical in the 1980s and I was fortunate to be in the audience one evening. Then the following Sunday I was walking into a movie theater, that was close to where I lived, to see Carmen (1984 film) and almost bumped into him as he was leaving the theater. Now that is a fun coincidence. I was watching the Lis Sladen interviews on the Terror of the Zygons DVD two nights ago and I was thinking about that very discussion that you linked to. The Bradley as Hartnell pic is great. As we get closer to the 23rd I am getting every bit as excited for An Adventure in Space and Time as I am for Day of the Doctor. Three weeks and one day to go!
