Falkland Islands Article in Arbitration

[edit]

Having briefly reviewed the article's discussion history, I've identified you as a potentially aggrieved editor whose contributions may have been negatively impacted by the actions of a group of editors who are alleged to be POV-pushing and engaging in WP:GAMES. I invite you to peruse the arbcom request and voice your opinion and experiences, at your leisure. The link is:

Jorge Asís

[edit]

Long time no see... and this is a sensitive week re: our business... but OK: the Jorge Asís article needs a link to the Spanish version, and maybe some copy-editing to make it richer in links... elpincha (talk) 14:55, 29 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

modified request for permission to reproduce photograph

[edit]

(please see your email for more information)

I understand that in order to reproduce your photograph, "Hands at the Cuevas de las Manos upon Río Pinturas" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:SantaCruz-CuevaManos-P2210651b.jpg), we must also include the full text of the GFDL. Unfortunately, we do not have the room in our journal to do this. Is it possible for you to give us permission to reproduce the photo in the next issue of "Minerva", an occasional (non-subscription) publication of Citizens for Global Solutions, without this stipulation?

For more information on Minerva, please go to: www.globalsolutions.org/wfi/minerva

AfD nomination of Voseo

[edit]

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Voseo. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Voseo. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:28, 16 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello Marianocecowski! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. Please note that all biographies of living persons must be sourced. If you were to add reliable, secondary sources to this article, it would greatly help us with the current 35 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

Tomas Eloy Martinez article

[edit]

Hello,

It appears that you entered Tomas Eloy Martinez's cause of death as lung cancer. However, the Washington Post (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/02/03/AR2010020303700.html), the NYT and all other English newspapers I could find listed his cause of death as a brain tumor (brain cancer). I wanted to give you a chance to research it yourself and make the correction. -- Michael David (talk) 19:50, 6 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Cuevas de la Manos Photograph

[edit]

Hi Marianocecowski, I'm very interested in using this beautiful photograph http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:SantaCruz-CuevaManos-P2210651b.jpg as a cover image for an upcoming textbook from Canadian Scholars' Press/Women's Press. I was wondering if it would be possible to acquire the image at higher resolution? If so, I understand this would necessitate extra effort on your part and we would be more than happy to pay a licensing fee for permission to use the image in this case.

Wikimedia Stories Project

[edit]

Aloha!

My name is Victor and I work with the Wikimedia Foundation, the non-profit organization that supports Wikipedia. We're chronicling the inspiring stories of the Wikipedia community around the world, including those from readers, editors, and donors. Stories are absolutely essential for any non-profit to persuade new people to support the cause, and we know the vast network of people who use Wikipedia have so much to share.

I find stories that drive our annual fundraising efforts. It's important to convey the incredible diversity of people who've come to rely upon Wikipedia every day.

I'd really like the opportunity to interview you to tell your story, with the possibility of using it in our materials, on our community websites, or as part of this year’s fundraiser to encourage others to support Wikipedia.

I will be in Buenos Aires from the 10th - 11th of March 2012.

I'm hoping you will elaborate on your story with me. Please let me know if you're inclined to take part in the Wikipedia Stories Project!

Thank you,

Victor Grigas

MSU Interview

[edit]

Dear Marianocecowski,

My name is Jonathan Obar user:Jaobar, I'm a professor in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences at Michigan State University and a Teaching Fellow with the Wikimedia Foundation's Education Program. This semester I've been running a little experiment at MSU, a class where we teach students about becoming Wikipedia administrators. Not a lot is known about your community, and our students (who are fascinated by wiki-culture by the way!) want to learn how you do what you do, and why you do it. A while back I proposed this idea (the class) to the communityHERE, where it was met mainly with positive feedback. Anyhow, I'd like my students to speak with a few administrators to get a sense of admin experiences, training, motivations, likes, dislikes, etc. We were wondering if you'd be interested in speaking with one of our students.

So a few things about the interviews:

  • Interviews will last between 15 and 30 minutes.
  • Interviews can be conducted over skype (preferred), IRC or email. (You choose the form of communication based upon your comfort level, time, etc.)
  • All interviews will be completely anonymous, meaning that you (real name and/or pseudonym) will never be identified in any of our materials, unless you give the interviewer permission to do so.
  • All interviews will be completely voluntary. You are under no obligation to say yes to an interview, and can say no and stop or leave the interview at any time.
  • The entire interview process is being overseen by MSU's institutional review board (ethics review). This means that all questions have been approved by the university and all students have been trained how to conduct interviews ethically and properly.

Bottom line is that we really need your help, and would really appreciate the opportunity to speak with you. If interested, please send me an email at obar@msu.edu (to maintain anonymity) and I will add your name to my offline contact list. If you feel comfortable doing so, you can post your nameHERE instead.

If you have questions or concerns at any time, feel free to email me at obar@msu.edu. I will be more than happy to speak with you.

Thanks in advance for your help. We have a lot to learn from you.

Sincerely,

Jonathan Obar --Jaobar (talk) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chlopeck (talkcontribs) 04:02, 20 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Nice catch. I'm wondering (but not very hard) whether to block Kevin J Ashton's account as 'vandalism only', or to wait and see what happens next. I don't think he's going to be happy... Peridon (talk) 12:34, 17 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
