Hello, Mariamoo333, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Ian and I work with Wiki Education; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. You may also want to check out the Teahouse, a community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to helping new users. Below are some resources to help you get started editing.

ENG 465 Check-In

[edit]

Hi Mariam,

This is Sam, the TA from ENG 465! Prof. Hanley asked me to help get in touch with everyone this weekend to make sure the Wiki assignments are moving along smoothly.

It's awesome to see you've been jumping right in! :) I think Into the Forest seems to be a great choice, although Prof. Hanley does get the final say. Also great to see that you've been on top of the training modules and exercises, and have been working on a bibliography and drafting in your sandbox.

The only thing I might suggest is making sure you're using those "quality" sources. For example, I think Variety magazine is probably a better source than IMDb (I'm sure IMDb is fine too, just as long as you aren't getting all your information from there... I don't know if IMDb is as "reliable" of a source by Wikipedia's standards as a national magazine like Variety). You can also post your in-progress bibliography into the Talk Page, if you want to see if other Wikipedia users have any valuable feedback or suggestions for you!

Let me know if there's any way I can help you with your Wikipedia project (brainstorming, Zoom meeting, finding more sources, etc)! You can reply here and I'll get an email notification, or you can just message me on Zoom during class, if you'd like. --Sjnickerson (talk) 04:18, 7 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi again Mariam,
Prof. H wanted to go through and make sure everyone received a "greenlight" to progress to updating their live Wikipedia article... I already knew you'd been updating your article on-the-fly anyway, but wanted to provide you with the "greenlight" and some feedback on your article draft's sandbox Talk page anyway, just to be safe! Like I said there, let me know if I can help in any way. --Sjnickerson (talk) 19:32, 22 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
