Issues with Darren Bartlett

[edit]

Please see copy right issues as in above welcome template. The article on Darren_Bartlett is a perfect copy and paste from the website. Jab843 (talk) 16:23, 21 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The article Darren Bartlett has been proposed for deletion because, under Wikipedia policy, all newly created biographies of living persons must have at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. HELP PLEASE

I need help with the page I set up and seek a collaborator with knowledge of wikipedia who would be kind enough to offer genuine help in resolving the issues and warnings contained on this page. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Darren_Bartlett

I am inexperienced at wikipedia and this is the first article I have written, clearly I have made some mistakes. I dare not edit anymore for fear of being removed, I only edited to try and amend the errors but this has not helped.

I need someone impartial to rewrite the article so that it will be acceptable to wikipedia. I have been told it reads like a promotional blurb not an encyclopedia.

Thank you

Marcobellini, after your appeal for help on the Help Desk IRC channel, I have attempted to locate source material that would provide a foundation for an encyclopedic rewrite of the article Darren Bartlett. My research, while perfunctory, is unbiased inasmuch as the gentleman that is the subject of the article is unknown to me. But there does not appear to be any source material that might elevate this article to meet the guidelines of Wikipedia:Notability (music). I also have visited all of the references that are currently cited in the article and concur with the above warnings that the sources constitute reference spam. A thorough study of Wikipedia:Your first article may help you understand where your endeavour went astray. Scottyoak2 (talk) 03:22, 17 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you ScottyOak2, I really appreciate your time and efforts. I have read through your suggestions and even though everything in the article is fact and not fabrication clearly the references I have cited are not acceptable to wikipedia. However I did look at your suggestions and I find this under the heading NOTABILITY (MUSIC) CRITERIA FOR COMPOSERS & LYRICISTS 4. "Has written a composition which has won (or in some cases been given a second or other place) in a major music competition not established expressly for newcomers". Then the subject and his brother both fall into this and if nothing else perhaps the page could include this?
The Bartlett brothers wrote SONG OF PEACE which was selected for the BBC CHOIRBOY OF THE YEAR (JAMES EAGER) to perform and record on behalf of the BBC in 2002 and was released as a CD single (All proceeds went to the Salvation Army Charity). The CD was aired on CLASSIC FM ( most notable) and BBC RADIO 3 along with the BBC CONCERT ORCHESTRA & THE BBC NATIONAL ORCHESTRA OF WALES. Surely this BBC sponsored competition would fall into the above category?
If the subject is not notable for this composition then perhaps the song itself is and a page entitled SONG OF PEACE should appear? Marcobellini (talk) 10:15, 17 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Marcobellini, I've moved your comments to this page to avoid losing the thread.
If the song meets one of the criteria of WP:NSONG, seek supporting reliable sources that are independent of the subject. Is there enough verifiable material to warrant a reasonably detailed article about the song itself? Remember that notability of a song is neither inherited nor established merely by being performed by one notable artist in a notable venue. Scottyoak2 (talk) 03:08, 18 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
