Sylvia Browne
[edit]Maprov,
I dislike Sylvia as much as the next skeptic, but the phrase "However, critics wonder if she can be trusted as she is a convicted fraudster, having been convicted of investment fraud and grand theft." is not the best way to go about convincing "true believers" of her true nature.
I have recently added an entire section on the fraud conviction. I think we should leave it at that and let people make up their own minds (shudder!).
I commend you for having your head on your shoulders, but like I said, an opening paragraph like that will do more harm than good.
I was going to revert your edit but I see you are still working on the page. I will come back later to view your final product.

I think we should let people make up their own minds, but with all the relevant information readily available. Sylvia Browne was convicted of investment fraud, but she didn't only commit fraud once a long time ago. She does it every day. Every day she cons several people out of large amounts of money. In light of that, I don't think the fact that she is a fraudster is any less relevant that the fact that she claims to be a psychic, or that she's written books on 'spirituality.' Template user donkey
[edit]Hello! You recently created Template user donkey. Firstly, userboxen should go in the template namespace (eg Template:User donkey). Secondly, I think this userbox might offend some other Wikipedians (mainly the because they're better comment). Can I delete Template user donkey for you?--Commander Keane 23:24, 6 January 2006 (UTC)
I don't know why anyone would be offended by the userbox. Mind you, when I say that Democrats are better than Republicans, I mean that Democratic politicians are better than Republican ones. Half of this country would agree with me. The other half would say the opposite. Is everyone to be offended?
I would ask that you move it to where it should properly be, if I've misplaced it, and if you would be kind enough to do so. Maprov 01:50, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
- OK, I'll move it for you. When I get a chance I'll get someone at Wikipedia:WikiProject Userboxes to take a look to see if it's ok. There has been much debate about userbox content recently.--Commander Keane 04:27, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
- Thank you.Maprov 16:07, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
Skeptic project
[edit]Hello! What exactly do you propose to achieve with a Skeptic project? Do you have a set of aims and ojectives or a statement of intent that is available for comment? -- (aeropagitica) 00:35, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for your interest. I'm still working out the idea, but I think the wikiproject should add articles related to science, philosophy, and reason in general. Also, it should check the POV already present in many articles concerning magick, pyschics, "alternative" medicines and other such bits of utter nonsense. That's what I hope the group can help to accomplish, if it ever comes into being. The NPOV must be preserved, where possible, and restored, where impossible. Maprov 01:50, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
- Let me know if this comes to pass. I may be interested in it. Jokermage "Timor Mentum Occidit" 04:28, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
- Will do.Maprov 16:07, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
- Sorry about that, I copy&pasted that message from a message I sent to a James (which doesn't sound like that great of an excuse, but it's the truth).Maprov

request for deletion
[edit]I'm sorry, Maprov, but I can't oblige your request to delete this page, per Durin. User talk pages contain material contributed by other users and often are referenced in other conversations. They thus are not deleted upon request as user and user sub-pages may be. You are free to blank or archive this page if you wish. Regards, BanyanTree 01:11, 27 January 2006 (UTC)
I'm free to "blank" it but you won't delete it? What's the point of keeping a blank page?*Maprov
Deleting your talk page removes its history, while blanking it does not. — TheKMantalk 23:44, 28 January 2006 (UTC)
