Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, Manruss. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Mark Russell (comics), you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{edit COI}} template);
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest § How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam § External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Tacyarg (talk) 15:58, 8 January 2024 (UTC)
- I would appreciate it if you would reinstate my previous edit. Yes, this was an edit to an article about myself, but the edit only consisted of 1) updating with a more current and better quality photo, 2) updating to include recent publications and 3) to remove references to my family for safety reasons. I feel that these edits were made in good faith, make the article more accurate and up to date and remove references to family members who have no bearing on the article but may be targeted due to the controversial nature of some of my work.
- Thank you. 97.120.134.90 (talk) 09:08, 9 January 2024 (UTC)
- Please remember to log in. I have added the additional books back in, as they don't need sources. You didn't make any changes to family members. I am reluctant to add the photograph back as you say it is your own work, but it doesn't look like a selfie. You can always ask on the WP:TEAHOUSE if you want another opinion.
