Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, Manniewiki. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Lucy Surhyel Newman, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam#External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. MB 14:02, 13 October 2022 (UTC)
- Hi MB,
- i'm not in a COI but i found out i can't make edits anymore so what can i do because they are just minor typographical edits Manniewiki (talk) 15:29, 14 October 2022 (UTC)
- @Manniewiki, I believe that you can make edits, they are just being reverted because they are incorrect. We use this style guide. You are trying to capitalize things that are not proper names and you keep trying to use a a given name instead of a surname. If you don't personally know Lucy Surhyel Newman, then why do you keep addressing her as "Lucy". That suggests some familiarity. Please explain. MB 17:38, 14 October 2022 (UTC)
- @MB where i'm trying capitalize are positions that need to emphasized and Lucy is her firstname which i think that is what she should be addressed as instead of the surname Manniewiki (talk) 11:04, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
- @Manniewiki, I gave you a link above to the style guide above. We don't capitalize positions for "emphasis" and we address people with surnames. These are standards we apply to all articles. You have not edited any other article which suggests you have a relationship with Lucy Surhyel Newman. Please explain. MB 14:32, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
- @MB This is the first time editing and intend to work on more articles, However, i don't have any relationship with Lucy Surhyel Newman Manniewiki (talk) 15:20, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
