Using non-english sources

- Can you please quote a phrase or two of what she says about it in the book? Most of us will not be able to get a hold of this book. --Nate (talk) 17:05, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
RE:Ceres
[edit]I can understand from the mythology why you'd think Ceres should be attributed to Virgo, but personally I'm not for it. The asteroid is too concerned with having, possessing which seems more Taurus to me and not mental or holistic enough. My personal favorite is Pallas, even though for some reason everyone seems to have overlooked it. It's mental, dexterious, a healer, a helper [1]. At any rate, I deleted Ceres the first time in the Domicile article because if you do a little research you'll see almost every other astrologer is using a different ruler for Virgo and there's probably never going to be a complete agreement. --IdLoveOne (talk) 18:04, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
Cease and desist
[edit]I disagree with some or many of your astrological views, but I respect your right to disagree with me and understand your enthusiasm in trying to assign a new ruler to Virgo. But you can't force your opinions on Wikipedia! You can't go around deleting information on conflicting views, it violates policy and doesn't cast you in good light either. Please be considerate of others and follow policy and etiquette guidelines more strictly.
Policy aside as one astrologer to another, you put too much emphasis on labels like 'planet'. The "dwarf planet" category was decided on by only 400 people and labels don't magically change, elevate or lower what a planet does or how much attention it deserves. Is a satellite (Moon) less important than a dwarf planet that's smaller than it (Pluto)? Ceres is not right for or deserving of Virgo in my opinion, even the mythology is wrong. --IdLoveOne (talk) 23:23, 21 November 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for finally replying. The only thing about the Ceres mythology that sounds Virgo-like is "agricultural woman," but that's the end of it (the mom thing is pretty Cancer-like), I don't think your friends have thought very far at all. The Pluto connection is even stronger "proof" of the connection with Taurus, as this is the modern ruler of the sign opposite of Taurus, who weakened her -- detriment. If you think about it, the mythology implies that Ceres would hate Virgo, because the mythology is that Ceres became extremely depressed at the time of the harvest when Persephone was kidnapped and forced back to Hell every year, however in spring (Taurus is a spring sign) she was happy because Persephone was freed. So happy that she brought back all the Earth's greenery. But what I really don't like about Ceres for Virgo is that it's not a cerebral planet, which is what Virgo needs: A brainy, mentally-nervous, shy, health-conscious worker ruler, such as Pallas (almost perfect), Vesta or Chiron. This is not the nature of Ceres. Ceres does not rule Virgo and I don't care if they promote it to super-greatest-aster-solar system body-deserves-its-own-universe planet. Virgo is a sign of discernment, as so, Virgo must pick the correct ruler and for the correct reasons, not hype.
- Also, size doesn't matter. No one's replacing Pluto with Eris, and with good reason, so I just don't care that Ceres is the biggest asteroid (Pallas and Vesta are 2nd and third, good enough for me). Though, it might be a nice idea to give Earth to Taurus, if we can figure out a proper way to add it to astrology, but I think Ceres is a fair fit, better that sign than Virgo anyway. --IdLoveOne (talk) 02:35, 25 November 2008 (UTC)
