Regarding your recent requests for page protection
[edit]I am going to assume for the purpose of this message that you are employed by or represent the company/organization that is the subject of the article in question. If that's so, there are several things you need to know:
- Wikipedia is founded on, and operates on, the principle that anyone can edit any article or page, with very few and very limited exceptions. This means that we have a detailed protection policy that guides editors and administrators in the valid reasons, accepted by the Wikipedia community, for making a particular article an exception to this principle. One of the key points of the protection policy is that we avoid page protection if there is not an ongoing need to prevent disruption to the article (and by extension, the Wikipedia community). Said another way, we do not protect pages until there is an active and clear need to protect the page to end disruptive activity.
- The subject of an article, whether it is a person or a company, does not own or control the content of that article, and in fact we strongly suggest people connected to an article's subject should not edit that article at all. In plainer language, you don't get any special input or control over the article content, or who can edit it, just because you work for, represent, or own the company/organization the article is about.
If the laws of your country allow some kind of legal remedy against libel or what you called fraudulent information, and the persons who made the IP edits live in your country, then maybe you can obtain relief separate from Wikipedia through your courts. –Darkwind (talk) 07:35, 13 September 2019 (UTC)
