Welcome, but show care
As a newcomer, you might consider making small edits and consulting other article for guidance on the standards for graphics and writing style. I feel that the content that you provided on Nitrosation is poorly written (hence my encouragement that you consider making smaller edits at first). Wikiepedia is not a venue to share our idiosyncratic perspectives ("N2 is a great leaving group)." "The electrons are pushed onto the nitrogen-nitrogen bond"). So, while Wikipedia relies on contributions from knowledgable individuals like yourself, the project is characterized by standards and culture that has evolved (and which again took me some time to adapt to as well). Of course, I have no authority at all, and you can do what you wish! --Smokefoot 23:47, 13 November 2007 (UTC)
- I thank you for commenting on my contributions. I agree that my verbal descriptions weren’t up to par. The article was barely a stub when I first expanded it, so it was just a basic guideline for someone else to assist in contribution. I attribute the failure to ‘meet the standards’ to being new for sure. However, I find no error in my graphics. I do have much more to learn about objective writing' though. I didn’t intend to sound bias regarding my “N2 is a great leaving group” comment (because it is a very good leaving group- NH2 is converted to it sometimes because NH2 is a very poor L.G. [which was an implied reason for expanding the reaction completely]), but I see how people would perceive it to sound idiosyncratic. I am not trying to sound sarcastic, and I sincerely thank you for your constructive criticism. (And the “Tireless Contributor Barnstar” award is impressive)--Manderson198 00:38, 14 November 2007 (UTC)
Some really good "organic" editors are the following user:V8rik, User:~K, user:Rifleman 82, user:Itub: their standards of writing and graphics have really helped me, although I dont follow their methods completely. Some of these people (I assume they are people) are really, really good with ChemDraw. All of them would offer good advice and are probably more polite than me. Good luck.--Smokefoot 00:56, 14 November 2007 (UTC)
- Great. Thanks for the references. I took your advise to heart, and am revising as we speak.--Manderson198 01:03, 14 November 2007 (UTC)
