Jamie Najera

[edit]

This is just a little pre-warning.Please do not go around deleting article as if you were the boss, which you are completly not.People can expand their articles, yet you like deleting them, which I feel is not right.I could have added more but before I had the chance you deleted it.Reason please! Alyssacarmillo 03:07, 17 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

First, please create new topics at the bottom of a talk page. I believe the article you are refering to Jamie Najera was deemed by other users and administrators as being non-notable and previously deleted under WP:CSD A7. And while you recreated the article, another user simply moved the article under your username space User:Alyssacarmillo/Jamie Najera. And since a main namespace article should never be redirected into the user namespace, I simply deleted the redirect under CSD R2. -- malo (tlk) (cntrbtns) 21:52, 17 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You do not deserve a thank you.At least for what you did to my article! Alyssacarmillo 03:08, 17 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thats fine, but please don't put comments in unrelated sections that haven't been added to in more than 3 months. It tends to confuse others. -- malo (tlk) (cntrbtns) 21:52, 17 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your User Page

[edit]

Hey Malo, I was shopping around today for a way to organize my user page and I really liked the way you've got yours laid out. Simple and attractive. I just wanted to let you know I borrowed a few parts of your scheme as I am no good at created them myself. Hope you don't mind. Check it out User:Alex LaPointe if you get a chance and let me know what you think. Thanks —Alex LaPointetalk 00:54, 18 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No problem, I don't mind. Most everything on my user pages was either taken from or inspired by some other users and their pages. -- malo (tlk) (cntrbtns) 02:47, 18 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The fact of the matter is that, the incident that you are refering to is rather well documented. And while wikipedia has a policy of neutral point of view, I feel that you are asking me to whitewash this article about you. Wikipedia is Not a place for you to promote yourself. While I will (and already have) removed poorly sourced statements in this article, I will not remove the BBC article simply because you think it hurts your career. -- malo (tlk) (cntrbtns) 14:42, 18 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re: regarding your tagging of Image:AP11America.JPG

[edit]

Thanks for the note. I'm using Howcheng's Quick Image Deletion JavaScript so it probably was some browser glitch that resulted in the image not being listed... I think I wanted to delete it because there was a duplicate on Commons or something like that, but I can't find it right now. I'll just remove the tag. --Fritz S. I am creating a page because I am referenced on the page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cryogenic_%28Band%29

Please take a look at Wikipedia:Notability (people) as well as Wikipedia:Notability (music), for notability guidelines regarding biographies and musicians respectively. Having another article link to this article is not enough to justify notability. Also there are some neutral point of view issues in regard to creating an article on yourself. If your are serious about creating one, I suggest you carefully read Wikipedia:Autobiography. In particular it discourages individuals from doing so. -- malo (tlk) (cntrbtns) 03:34, 8 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Bassem Abousaid

[edit]

Hi there, this entry is notable as if you search for this individual on google you will find he has acted in many local and overseas productions, I was also going to add lots more to the page, could you please allow this so i could continue editing. Wwesmackdown 08:21, 12 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please have a look at Wikipedia:Notability (people), I don't see how this individual meets the criteria of inclusion. If you care to dispute this, then by all means feel free to recreate the article, but please try to cite some reliable sources in the process, and make an effort to explain why this individual is notable. I noticed you did a revert of some inane vandalism on my user page. Thanks. But I have to ask, why did you even know it was there???? Orangemarlin 03:04, 25 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I do a bit of vandalism fighting. I was watching that user. All they did was vandalism, and so after a few warnings, I blocked them. Your userpage just happened to be the last straw. -- malo (tlk) (cntrbtns) 03:34, 25 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I can't even figure out how he found my user page. It's not like I edit some of those articles. Well, thanks anyways. Orangemarlin 04:36, 25 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

bringing imporoper censorship to light

[edit]

Why do you insist on reverting my accurate edits to the Venezuela page? It is either a socialist republic(which Chavez has referred to it as on more than one occasion, and now that he rules by decree that effectively means it is in fact a "socialist republic" simply on his saying so) Your censorship of my edits without explaining yourself is unprofessional and furthermore, it negatively impacts Wikipedia's role as a collaborative BUT accurate resource for all users. "Sending" the dispute to the discussion page is an attempt to postpone the inevitable conclusion: you are wrong and Venezuela is NO LONGER a federal repblic because its leader (one person) rules by decree and himself referrs to the country as a socialist republic. Just because you have some aversion to the term, it IS accurate and theres no good reason for masquerading it in intellectually-vacuous language that conceals the true nature of things. Rmgmu -- —Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.174.177.126 (talkcontribs) 21:35, 30 January 2007

First, please login. You've signed as user Rmgmu, however you are not logged in and I cannot be certain that you are the user you claim to be. As for your assumption that I have some disagreement with you, I don't. I simply have looked over your edits and I have noticed that a number of other editors today have reverted your edits on the article Venezuela. I simply gave you a 3RR warning, see WP:3RR. We have a policy to prevent edit warring. Call it censorship if you like. But the fact of the matter is that the CIA factbook lists this nation as a federal republic. If you wish to debate this, fine. However you had better cite some reliable sources first, and then when someone comes to revert your edits, you should immediately take it up on the article's talk page by creating a new topic and logically explaining your actions. Do not revert them over and over again. That will only get you blocked and your voice will not likely be heard then. I hope this helps. -- malo (tlk) (cntrbtns) 21:45, 30 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Last I checked the CIA factbook is not nor has ever been the holy grail of government classification. Furthermore, it is important to note that calling an apple an orange doesn't make it an orange... even if the sign on the apple bin says oranges. I hope my simple analogy makes it clear my reasoning. In fact if you read wikipedias own page on dictatorship you would quickly realize that "rule by decree" such as that Hugo Chavez was granted today constitute an authoritarian government also known as dictatorship. Did you ever stop to think that maybe the peoplle whose edits you should be undoing are those who reverted my edits which as I've made the case quite clearly are accurate. Let's stop beating around the bush. Rmgmu —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rmgmu (talkcontribs) 21:56, 30 January 2007

So cite a source. I suggest you choose a reliable source. -- malo (tlk) (cntrbtns) 22:02, 30 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use in templates

[edit]

Ok, I'm just wondering why other "fair use" images are on templates? It sort of makes validation for me when I see that, in my opinion. Soxrock 21:47, 3 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If you have found fair use images inside of other templates, they shouldn't be there. I can understand if you're just copying what you see, however policy clearly states that fair use images are not permitted in the templates namespace. -- malo (tlk) (cntrbtns) 21:49, 3 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Syria

[edit]

Hi, this is regarding your recent revert on this article. The only change you made was that Syria gained independence in 1936, but if you look carefully you will find that Syria actually gained independence in 1946, after claiming it twice, but was still under French mandate. Note that I am talking about the article text, not the infobox which clearly distinguishes between the three dates. I will wait before I change it back to 1946, hopefully you will agree with me. Thanks. Asabbagh 01:11, 14 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That was my mistake. You are correct. Thank you for leaving a message on my talk page explaining yourself. I have just reverted the article to your previous version, sorry for the mistake on my part. -- malo (tlk) (cntrbtns) 04:28, 14 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Quotation

[edit]

Hi! Why you've removed my link from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quotation? Thanks. Winny-the-Pooh 13:10, 14 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That article is frequently in violation of the External Links guidelines WP:EL. There are just far too many such sites promoting their own collections of quotes. If users want to find quotes, they shouldn't look at this article to find them. A google search would do just as well. -- malo (tlk) (cntrbtns) 13:43, 14 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

2try4 for AfD?

[edit]

Hello Malo. I notice you cleared this one out from List of search engines. I nominated the article itself for speedy deletion once. It's actually just been re-created after the second speedy deletion. (Apparently it doesn't break any rules to do so). Do you think it's time for an AfD on this one? EdJohnston 19:26, 18 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I personally don't see the need to AfD this article. I have already deleted it under CSD G4, G11, and A7. This article has already been deleted twice, it does not appear to be notable to me. If someone comes along and disagrees, I suggest that they take it before the deletion review, Wikipedia:Deletion_review instead of simply recreating. -- malo (tlk) (cntrbtns) 22:58, 18 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
