Accepted as

[edit]

Hello and welcome again. I just saw the changes you made to Melanochlamys, changing "synonym of" into "accepted as". Indeed, WoRMS uses these words. But we have chosen not to, because the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature recognizes the word "synonym" (each of two or more names of the same rank used to denote the same taxonomic taxon), while the words "accepted as" do not occur in the ICZN rules. On the other hand, we don't want to become too technical by using terms such as "objective synonym", "junior synonym", "subjective synonym", "younger synonym", (disused or unused) "senior synonym". I hope you can agree with this and I hope to see more contributions from you. If you like, you can become a member of Wikipedia:WikiProject Gastropods, on which page you can find more explanations. A Barnstar!
Welcome!

A very big WELCOME to WikiProject Gastropods for you, Malacologist2, a new member! We are delighted that you decided to join the Project! Thank you for your interest and your contributions. Are you mostly just interested in gastropods or do bivalves interest you too? I ask because we also have a Bivalve Project. If you need any help understanding any aspect of Wikipedia, or the gastropod project, etc, please feel free to drop me a line. Invertzoo (talk) 19:50, 12 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

On 9 June 2012 you wrote a message on my talk page about problems in the taxonomy. I replied that this couldn't be handled by Wikipedia. Therefore I sent an email to Dr. Bouchet. I have now received a (belated) answer that you can read on my talk page. I hope this satisfies your query. JoJan (talk) 09:09, 23 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
