OER inquiry

Hi Makecat, I'm sending you this message because you're one of about 300 users who have recently edited an article in the umbrella category of open educational resources (OER) (or open education). In evaluating several projects we've been working on (e.g. the WIKISOO course and WikiProject Open), my colleague Pete Forsyth and I have wondered who chooses to edit OER-related articles and why. Regardless of whether you've taken the WIKISOO course yourself - and/or never even heard the term OER before - we'd be extremely grateful for your participation in this brief, anonymous survey before 27 April. No personal data is being collected. If you have any ideas or questions, please get in touch. My talk page awaits. Thanks for your support! - Sara FB (talk) 20:44, 23 April 2014 (UTC)

Do you want to come back? Almost one year passed.--GZWDer (talk) 11:58, 27 April 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for reposting 燃玉's impressive essay, even though I occasionally check my watchlist and village pump on zh.wikipedia. Since my unblock request was rejected about six months ago, I'm not sure whether it's time to submit another one. May be next month, when I have some time to write something about it. --Makecat 15:20, 27 April 2014 (UTC)
Don't you see the page I've linked to: Wikipedia:Standard offer? If possible, Please provide all sockpuppets you have used in a user subpage (sorry I don't have E-mail), It will help you to get unblocked. You should also promise to avoid the behavior that led to the block.--GZWDer (talk) 09:55, 28 April 2014 (UTC)
And, please read messages archived at User talk:Makecat/Archive5.--GZWDer (talk) 10:01, 28 April 2014 (UTC)

Well, I may request for unblock recent days, but voting for the sysop initially nominated by me immediately after unblock may cause some controversies. --Makecat 06:59, 4 September 2014 (UTC)

Hello Makecat. This message is part of a mass mailing to people who appear active in reviewing articles for creation submissions. First of all, thank you for taking part in this important work! I'm sorry this message is a form letter – it really was the only way I could think of to covey the issue economically. Of course, this also means that I have not looked to see whether the matter is applicable to you in particular.

The issue is in rather large numbers of copyright violations ("copyvios") making their way through AfC reviews without being detected (even when easy to check, and even when hallmarks of copyvios in the text that should have invited a check, were glaring). A second issue is the correct method of dealing with them when discovered.

If you don't do so already, I'd like to ask for your to help with this problem by taking on the practice of performing a copyvio check as the first step in any AfC review. The most basic method is to simply copy a unique but small portion of text from the draft body and run it through a search engine in quotation marks. Trying this from two different paragraphs is recommended. (If you have any question about whether the text was copied from the draft, rather than the other way around (a "backwards copyvio"), the Wayback Machine is very useful for sussing that out.)

If you do find a copyright violation, please do not decline the draft on that basis. Copyright violations need to be dealt with immediately as they may harm those whose content is being used and expose Wikipedia to potential legal liability. If the draft is substantially a copyvio, and there's no non-infringing version to revert to, please mark the page for speedy deletion right away using {{db-g12|url=URL of source}}. If there is an assertion of permission, please replace the draft article's content with {{subst:copyvio|url=URL of source}}.

Some of the more obvious indicia of a copyvio are use of the first person ("we/our/us..."), phrases like "this site", or apparent artifacts of content written for somewhere else ("top", "go to top", "next page", "click here", use of smartquotes, etc.); inappropriate tone of voice, such as an overly informal tone or a very slanted marketing voice with weasel words; including intellectual property symbols (™,®); and blocks of text being added all at once in a finished form with no misspellings or other errors.

I hope this message finds you well and thanks again you for your efforts in this area. Best regards--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 02:20, 18 November 2014 (UTC).

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Come back

Please come back to Chinese Wikipedia, you are actually a good editor. If you apologise, others will forgive you. You have been an administractor for a period of time, you know about the operation well. Please come back. I am waiting for you. --219.78.190.197 (talk) 14:38, 6 August 2016 (UTC)

Percobaltate is proposed for deletion

I could find no literature on this compound in any significant journal. If it is real, it would be a big deal. So either it is real and mainly unpublished, in which case it is un-notable, or it is just not real or a hoped for material. Co(V) again would be of great interest, so this thing probably would not slip by not noticed. --Smokefoot (talk) 01:40, 29 September 2016 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Category:Arsenic halides requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. —swpbT 16:09, 10 July 2017 (UTC)
