Articles for deletion nomination of Martin Wolk
[edit]I have nominated Martin Wolk, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Martin Wolk. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.
Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. J Milburn (talk) 17:17, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
- No, I support deleting the article because it's fairly clear that there's something amiss- most likely, this Wolk is not who you claim he is, or he has never existed at all. Now you admit that the article is "merely to entertain mainly Guardian online readers where Martin Wolk is a popular phenomenon". Well, sorry, but Wikipedia is not a free webhost. Would you care to explain what the situation here is, and perhaps explain why I shouldn't delete this article as a hoax and block your account? J Milburn (talk) 18:27, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
- We're trying to build an encyclopedia here, and your crap really isn't helping. You don't have to help us, but the least you can do is leave us in peace. We're not supposed to be some vessel for your "clearly non malicious fun"- if you want somewhere like that, try MySpace or BlogSpot. Yes, you're right, I do get a lot of abuse from vandals and trolls, but, thankfully, I'm fairly thick skinned. You're no different from the kind of vandals who replace pages with "he's gay" or sign up just to be abusive- please don't start to think you're some kind of "artist" or somehow above all this silly "encyclopedia-building", or that the rules don't apply to you because you just want some "harmless fun". - I can appreciate that entries such as yours will not make Wikipedia come crashing down, and I appreciate that Wikipedia is not my personal plaything. As for your advice about me getting out more... Well, that may have some merit. I'm sorry if my response seemed a little heavy-handed- I admit, I was a little bewildered when I first saw the entry, so I did nominate for deletion (rather than outright deleting) and asked for some input from the experts. However, as you yourself said, entries such as this do not have a place on the encyclopedia, and I fail to see how leaving them around for a little while improves the encyclopedia- I'm sorry, but that's my goal here. If I see something that is not improving the encyclopedia, I will do my best to deal with it. I have nothing against you, your community or your joke per se, I simply do not like to see Wikipedia abused in such a way. J Milburn (talk) 11:36, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
- I'm glad to hear that. I hope you can become a constructive contributor. J Milburn (talk) 10:10, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Martin Wolk
[edit]Please refrain from introducing inappropriate pages, such as Martin Wolk, to Wikipedia. Doing so is not in accordance with our policies. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you.
