Planned Research.
[edit]I am very interested in juvenile delinquency and crime rates, as I had told you before. I was looking into other countries youth crime and could not necessarily find as interesting information as I had wanted. I then looked into Brazil and found a lot of information. This information was primarily on their gangs and drug usage.
I plan on adding to the crime in Brazil page. I have written on this page to tell anyone that may be watching, about my ideas. I then added a few sentences of information that I found. This was all just for starters, I am not very far into my research at this point, but do plan on getting a lot of it during spring break.
I have some ideas of focus for this topic ranging from different areas of crime. My main ideas are; violent crimes, murder rates, robberies, child prostitution, drug usage, and gang violence. I am looking forward to the feed back that you have because I am really wondering if all of these topics are maybe too much for my one section. I also am unsure if I will be able to find a lot of information on all of those areas anyways. Cant wait to hear what you are thinking! Maggiejo10 (talk) 04:04, 6 March 2013 (UTC)
Good work on Brazil Youth Crime
[edit]You have a very nice start to narrowing down your work. The next task is to find some new sources using GALE Global Issues in Context and Academic Search Complete. I think once you get going you will find some outstanding stuff. And, nice start!Prof.Vandegrift (talk) 22:06, 6 March 2013 (UTC)
A cupcake for you!
[edit]Good jump into article editing with Crime in Brazil article! I would recommend archiving your talk page so it is cleaned up and ready for new feedback. Also, consider moving into your sandbox to work on it and flagging the page that you are using it as part of an education project. Good work! Prof.Vandegrift (talk) 22:08, 6 March 2013 (UTC) |
Crime in Brazil edits
[edit]Hi Maggie. I moved the text you added to the Crime in Brazil article. There was already a paragraph discussing gang violence in the 'Current problems' section, so I placed your paragraph there. I also made a couple of small changes for clarity and formatted your reference. You can see the changes that I made in this edit. Once you have more content to add to the article, we probably will want a separate section or subsection. If you need any help or have any questions, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks, Gobōnobō + c 23:51, 28 March 2013 (UTC)
Feedback on 3.27 sources
[edit]Hi MaggieJo10! Your sources look really promising. All of them seem very appropriate. My suggestions:
- Have you looked at them, more than just the references. One looks like it's in German? What will you do with that?
- Can you incorporate the sources suggested on the Talk:Crime_in_Brazil page?
- Do any of these have statistics on youth in relation to violent crimes, murder rates, robberies, child prostitution, drug usage, and gang violence, the things you listed in your user page.
- Once you put together the stats and the articles you proposed here, you should have a sense of what you have information to edit towards in the Crime in Brazil article. Also, use the plans you put on the [[Talk:Crime_in_Brazil] page to guide what research you will need from here.
Keep up the good work! Now is the time to hone in on the specifics. Cheers. Prof.Vandegrift (talk) 03:31, 2 April 2013 (UTC)
Help us improve the Wikipedia Education Program
[edit]Hi Maggiejo10! As a student editor on Wikipedia, you have a lot of valuable experience about what it's like to edit as a part of a classroom assignment. In order to help other students like you enjoy editing while contributing positively to Wikipedia, it's extremely helpful to hear from real student editors about their challenges, successes, and support needs. Please take a few minutes to answer these questions by clicking below. (Note that the responses are posted to a public wiki page.) Thanks!

Peer Review
[edit]Hey Maggie!
I got a chance to look at your work and you've done a great job using both encyclopedic writing style and a sociological/global approach to youth studies. Your time might be best served searching for more content. You actually have a lot of information, its just all put together that it makes it less readable than it could be. Reading through a bunch of statistics may be hard for the audience of Wikipedia. Adding some headings might help with this too. I think you've got a lot of good stuff to work with, keep on going. I have more specific edits on the rubric and if you want to see them sooner than class just post on my talk page and I can send you an email. Any questions, feel free to do that, too.
Best of Luck! AbbeyMaynard (talk) 04:10, 30 April 2013 (UTC)
Deleted passages from Crime in Brazil
[edit]Hi Maggiejo. I saw that you deleted large swathes of text and a bunch of images from the Crime in Brazil article. Was that your intention? Gobōnobō + c 00:31, 16 May 2013 (UTC)
- Hi Gobonobo, That was my intention because a lot of the information in this article was about policing in Brazil so I wrote on the talk page of Law Enforcement in Brazil telling them that they may want that information. Maggiejo10 (talk) 00:53, 16 May 2013 (UTC)
