[edit]If you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization, you may request unblock and a username change. In your reasons, you must:
- Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement; and
- Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked; and
- Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked; and
- Provide a new username.
To do this, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}}
at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked.
Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken and in use by another account. You can go here to search and see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is available to be taken.
Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text{{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}
at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. 331dot (talk) 17:19, 26 October 2023 (UTC)Hi there. I am trying to make edits on my page, but it appears I have been blocked. MACPAC is a government agency. Thank you!
- Please review the information above and the policy pages linked to therein carefully, and follow the instructions to request to be unblocked. 331dot (talk) 17:27, 26 October 2023 (UTC)
- Note that Wikipedia is not a place for organizations(governmental or otherwise) to tell the world about themselves; Wikipedia articles summarize what independent reliable sources say about the topic. 331dot (talk) 17:29, 26 October 2023 (UTC)
Your article on Macpac
[edit]Hi @Macpacgov.
As you can see you've been blocked as your username contravenes the username policy. Usernames must not look to be representing an organisation. For example, Wikipedia would not allow the username WhitehouseUSA. Follow the unblock request instructions above, but let me know if you have any questions.
You will still be able to reply on this page as it is your user Talk Page (but please remember to sign your messages via WP:SIGNATURE.
But to answer your question on the Help Desk: your article was declined as it had no sources that were secondary to the subject. No organisation in the world is deemed inherently notable, including governmental departments and agencies. Wikipedia is not a place to tell the world about an existence of a department or agency: instead Wikipedia articles should paraphrase what reliable, independent, secondary sources state about a subject.
For there to be an article about Macpac, you'd need to show significant coverage of Macpac in newspapers, the media, books, journals, etc. These sources should discuss, describe, analyse, and report on the organisation. You would then build the Wikipedia article from that.
I hope that explains a little on how Wikipedia works. It is not like most other websites, and I'm sorry you've fallen at the first hurdle here- it is likely frustrating!
If you want to request to be unblocked and change your username, your next step is to formally declare if you have a conflict of interest with the organisation and/or if you are being paid by them. If you are an employee, intern, contractor, agency etc then the answer is yes to both those and you must make a declaration in-line with our Terms of Service.
Let me know if you have any questions by clicking Reply below this message. Qcne (talk) 17:33, 26 October 2023 (UTC)
- That is very helpful. Thank you! Macpacgov (talk) 17:37, 26 October 2023 (UTC)
- I have reviewed your terms and conditions on conflict of interest page, and I am not a paid editor. Is there somewhere I need to formally announce this before I am unblocked? Thank you in advance. Macpacgov (talk) 18:01, 26 October 2023 (UTC)
- If you're absolutely certain you don't have a conflict of interest and are absolutely certain you're not paid to create articles, then no- go ahead and follow the unblock request instructions above.
- Note you need to properly format the unblock request, including answering the questions in the bulletpoints, otherwise the request will be declined. Qcne (talk) 18:03, 26 October 2023 (UTC)

Are you an employee of MACPAC? 331dot (talk) 18:16, 26 October 2023 (UTC)
- No, I am not. Macpacgov (talk) 18:24, 26 October 2023 (UTC)
- Why did you choose the name of this agency as your username if you don't work for them, and how did you come to edit about them? 331dot (talk) 18:29, 26 October 2023 (UTC)
- I am an avid supporter of MACPAC and attend many of their public forum meetings on topics ranging from Medicaid to CHIP... Their sister org, MEDPAC has a Wiki page, so I wanted to create one for them. Macpacgov (talk) 18:31, 26 October 2023 (UTC)
- Also to note I thought the username would be visibly seen on the article page. I wanted it to match the title: The Medicaid and CHIP Payment and Access Commission. Macpacgov (talk) 18:35, 26 October 2023 (UTC)
- That expectation suggests that you have a (very common) misunderstanding about Wikipedia. Wikipedia is entirely unlike a social media site where an organisation (or a person) can "have a presence" or "have a page". If at some time there is a Wikipedia article about Macpag, it will not belong to them, it will not be controlled by them, it will not be for their benefit, it will not necessarily say what they want it to say, and it may be edited by almost anybody in the world except somebody associated with Macpag. Wikipedia is not interested in what the subject of an article says or wants to say about themselves, or what their associates say about them. Wikipedia is only interested in what people who have no connection with the subject, and who have not been prompted or fed information on behalf of the subject, have chosen to publish about the subject in reliable sources. ColinFine (talk) 15:11, 27 October 2023 (UTC)
- Understood. Respectfully, how does MEDPAC or the ADA, or any other governmental agency created by Congress have a Wiki page? Besides changing my username and adding more secondary outside sources, how can I further make this article a credible source of information? From my understanding the article I summitted was not biased, it was presenting factual information. Macpacgov (talk) 19:23, 27 October 2023 (UTC)
- See other stuff exists- but MEDPAC and the ADA receive extensive coverage in independent reliable sources, enough to summarize in an article.
- Organizations do not "have wiki pages" here; Wikipedia has articles about organizations. This is not just semantics, it is an important distinction. Articles are not for the benefit of the subject in any way and don't exist merely to provide information. If you just want to provide information, you should do that on social media or a personal website. 331dot (talk) 19:24, 27 October 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you. I do understand there is a distinction between the two terms. MACPAC's work has been mentioned numerous times by several credible and reliable sources such as KFF, Modern Healthcare, Bloomberg Law, etc. Since, I am blocked I am unable to add this information in the article. Macpacgov (talk) 19:45, 27 October 2023 (UTC)
- I'm afraid I cannot rename you to an abbreviation of MacPac. Please change your request to reflect that of a human being. Your real name is not needed. Just something individual. Thanks -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 14:28, 6 January 2024 (UTC)
