Mr. Maass, You claimed that you have a conflict of interest since you wrote the story on Demaio's page so you can no longer edit the page, yet you gave your recommendations on what should be edited. If you don't understand the irony and inconsistency then I don't know how to help you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Eno hth (talk • contribs) 05:58, 14 February 2011 (UTC)
Editing the page and making recommendations are two separate activities. I would feel a COI to edit the page, because my story was inserted into it, but it is acceptable for me to make recommendations, just as it would be perfectly appropriate for Carl DeMaio to make recommendations on the talk page.
Please see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:COI
The suggestions I made were either reiteration of what I'd already written or a request to fix a misappropriation of my work.
Ultimately, as a Wikipedia user and journalist, I have a responsibility to make sure that politicians are not spreading false information. Engaging in a discussion is perfectly legitimate. In my view, having a discussion on the discussion page is little different than having a conversation with various people during the breaks of a public meeting. I would not, however, feel comfortable with editing the page. I leave that to those without a COI. Maassive (talk) 01:36, 21 February 2011 (UTC)
