Hi, I got your message, and replied to it further down, but I was surprised to see no one has given you a welcome yet, and while you probably know most of this stuff, I'll give you one anyway :). Robert 03:43, 11 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome!

Hello, M Johnson/Archive 1, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome!

Now, to answer your question...

[edit]

Well, I customized most of those boxes. Here's how to make a basic babel (let's say we want to use native english, advanced italian, and intermediate spanish):

{{Babel|en|it-3|es-2}}

Note: (Babel-3 is the number of boxes you want, change the number if you want more or less.)

Now superseded by the {{Babel}} template. HTH HAND —Phil | Talk 09:39, 11 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

That will display like the box on the right. You can also see Wikipedia:Babel for more information about it.

Now, mine are a bit different. Since some of the boxes I use aren't templates (such as the DS and PSP one), I can't insert them in the template I just showed you, like I can with en and es. So, if you want custom boxes, you'll have to set up your babel like this...

{| style="float: right; margin-left: 1em; margin-bottom: 0.5em; width: 242px; border: #99B3FF solid 1px"
|
<center>'''[[Wikipedia:Babel]]'''</center>
|-
| {{User en}}
|-
| {{User it-3}}
|-
| {{User es-2}}
|}

...and then insert custom boxes as tables, using <div> tags to do so. If you want to see examples of that, take a look at the code on my babel page. I know it might be a little confusing, but I hope that helps a bit. If you want a babel that just has languages, just use the simple {{babel}} template I mentioned on top. Happy editing! Please don't remove red links just because an article hasn't yet been written. Wikipedia has many articles on railway stations, and I have little doubt we'll have articles on the stations on the Merredin line in the not-too-distant future. As such, I've reverted your edits to Transwa Avonlink. Ambi 09:28, 15 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I understand where you're coming from. There's quite a few station articles that consist of little more than a succession box (Melbourne and Paris being two major examples of this), so it'd be forgivable if you did create them, but I can completely understand not wanting to create what is a rather useless article. It's just that if they aren't red links then they tend not to ever get created. Ambi 09:53, 15 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

G'day

[edit]

Thanks for your contributions. Its great to have another good editor working on WA articles. As far as I know, WA only has about 10 active Wikipedians. If you need any help with admin-ish stuff, feel free to bug me.

You might like to add your user page to Category:Wikipedians in Western Australia and Category:Australian Wikipedians.

Snottygobble | Talk 00:31, 16 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Actually

[edit]

You removed the sprotected template from GWB. Actually that is correct. It is indeed semi-protected. It's new. --Woohookitty(cat scratches) 08:33, 22 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Tables formatting

[edit]

Thank you for your contributions on the succession boxes for suburbs that have railway connections, however, seems your edits made the broken tables ([1], [2], et al). However, I have fixed those broken tables. Please see m:Help:Tables for details about creating tables on pages on MediaWiki software.

By the way, please share the discussions on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Perth#About_Train_Station succession_boxes about the opinion for the train station succession boxes in Perth.

Have a nice editing. :-) --Shinjiman 10:00, 22 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Perth Userbox

[edit]

Hi there! Thanks for the userbox, i don't know quite what i was thinking at the time, with the colour scheme! LOL. Anyway, i was thinking of taking a new picture of Perth Train Station, seeing as some renovations have taken place. Are you familiar with Perth Station? If you are do you have a suggestion of where it should be taken? Thanks! --Ali K 08:23, 10 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have notified other members of the WikiProject Perth who either had my old userbox or had an interest in userboxes, so shortly everyone will be using the same one, Cheers, --Ali K 14:59, 10 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Anytime, and will do with the picture, im there 6 times a week :)--Ali K 07:48, 11 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

WP:AFL userbox

Fair enough, is it alright if I add your user page to Category:WikiProject AFL members?? Cheers, Rogerthat 12:53, 14 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wikisimpsons

[edit]

Bobo192 said: Are you the same Bobo192 who has been helping out at Wikisimpsons. If you are, thank you!

Yeah, that's me. For that matter, I apologise for not having been very active there recently and I promise to be there more over the next week. Mainly circumstances and lack of sources. Thank you for your message, I'll make sure to improve things over there very soon. Bobo. 05:23, 15 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

commons images

[edit]

Hiya, the links from commons to wikipedia are automatic. eg) your upload at commons [3] is visible from en.wikipedia just by using Image:Perth_Station.jpg in any article. The only thing to look out for is if someone has already uploaded a file to en.wikiepedia with that name it would take precedence over commons. Hope thats helps, Nachoman-au 11:51, 15 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Not gone

[edit]

I'm not gone, not really, or not yet, I don't know. There is too much crusade-cruft yet to be written, I guess I can't leave yet. Adam Bishop 06:20, 18 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Its Gone!

[edit]

Hi, i just noticed that your lovely userbox (WP Perth) is gone! (gasp) It has been relaced with an ugly change. When i went to the history, i couldn't see your userbox. Im now slightly confused. Oh yeah, Happy Australia Day!!--Ali K 08:53, 26 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have found it, it has been redirected. Apparently it had the wrong name, so it can't be seen in the history! --Ali K 09:48, 26 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

File:Plunger 250x410.jpg

Thanks for taking the time to vote in my RfA, which passed with a final vote of 54/2/1 despite my obvious inadequacy for the job. I'll do my level best to use the mop and bucket — or, as I said in my RfA, plunger — responsibly. Of course, in the best tradition of politicans everywhere, I've already broken a campaign promise (I blocked a vandal last night despite having said "I don't anticipate using the blocking tool very often"). Nevertheless, I'll try not to let the unbridled power corrupt me. —Josiah Rowe (talkcontribs) 14:56, 14 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your RfA nom

[edit]

I noticed your quick self-nom and subsequent removal on RfA. Good that you wanted to help! The last oppose voter probably noted the most important thing: you have very few edits in the Wikipedia namespace. You might want to start with Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. By posting comments there you'll become familiar with policies such as WP:CSD which are important for admins to understand. Another great spot IMO is Wikipedia:Featured article candidates. Your watchlist will expand as you notice interesting articles and you'll become more familiar with how people like to structure pages. Cheers, Marskell 11:13, 25 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • If you hope to become an administrator, you will need to show that you will not make arbitrary decisions such as ingnoring the Request to Merge discussion at talk:Milton Keynes Dons F.C.. Any such decisions are made by a proper administrator and then only when there is substantial consensus for the request. There is no such consensus. --Concrete Cowboy 16:32, 26 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

WA Train Accidents

[edit]

Give me 6 months, and I might be in a position to start the arts! I know of quite a lot of deaths at the foot of greenmount hill before it had a bridge over it - most of from the 1940's to 1960's - but do not have any time to either check or research before june. I am shifting house etc etc. Sorry cant help at the moment! SatuSuro 13:13, 26 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Kalamunda, Western Australia

[edit]

With regard to your edit, I agree, but what about the people of perth? what do they consider it to be? --Spook (my talk | my contribs) 10:20, 7 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't get me wrong, I'm not critising what you put. You've said what tourists and kalamundaians think, but not what perth residents think. --Spook (my talk | my contribs) 08:49, 8 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello again. You may remember me as the one who wanted the Futurama Portal deleted. As you are an admin, could you please delete User:M Johnson/Babel & Top 10. I am no longer using it on my page. Also, thankyou for removing the vandalism on my user page--M Johnson (talkcontribs) 02:22, 15 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject NBL

[edit]

Hey M Johnson/Archive 1

I am wondering if you would like to join WikiProject NBL. I believe that this is something that you might be able to help me with, by creating user boxes and player boxes for it or even adding articles about Players

Ok thanks for the reply

I'm just sending a message to everyone in the AFL project

I'm happy if you just help on the cosmetic side of things

thanks again

Cheers

User oops

[edit]

I added a little explanation to Category:Angel Wikipedians so people (like me) who wonder why in the world they've got that attached to their userpage would be given a hint instead of having to chase an explanation down. :D I was a bit confused when it appeared and I didn't recall adding it! Love your userpage, btw. Kylu t 05:36, 16 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Update: "user Angel" links to the category also. Tell me if you're interested in helping develop it further please. ~Kylu (u|t) 04:08, 27 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

AFL season article naming convention

As a participant of WikiProject AFL I thought you might be interested in this. I have started a vote to get a consensus on the naming convention for AFL season articles. infobox football

[edit]

at the time you wrote me, someone had moved it to wrong lowercase "Infobox something" while standard is "Infobox Something". maybe this second move caused the breakdown. Tobias Conradi (Talk) 05:39, 20 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Harry Kewell's position

[edit]

I just spotted that you've changed his position from "Left winger" to "Left winger midfield". Your version is not only poor grammar, but in my eyes poor football sense too. Do you have any argument to me reverting it? aLii 10:13, 25 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"Left wing midfield" doesn't make sense. "Left wing, midfield" does perhaps, but it's not like you could have "Left wing, defence" or anything, so it seems a rather pointless addition, especially seeing as it was linked to a page that describes what the position means. aLii 16:43, 26 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I guess being from a country that isn't really big on "soccer" could lead you to misunderstand the meaning of "winger", hence me linking it to a description of the position;
Winger. A winger is a wide midfielder who is stationed in a wide midfield position near the touchlines.
There is no such position as "left winging defender" or any of the other variants you list. A winger IS a midfielder. I don't mean to patronise, just to inform, and to reassure you that "winger" is indeed a full and correct description of the position that Kewell plays. aLii 20:00, 27 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

F1 portal featured article

[edit]

The F1 portal (in which I assume you have some degree of interest, as your name is listed on Wikipedia:WikiProject_Formula_One) is intended to have a regular rotation of a 'featured article'. I've swapped a few in and out over the last couple of months, but I think it would be better if there were more of a community attempt at deciding this, proposals, votes, that kind of thing. So - why not pop over to Portal_talk:Formula_One#Suggestions_for_Featured_Article: and make a suggestion. Ta. 4u1e 00:29, 26 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
