By the way, if you have a citation you could give for your recent edit to Tip, that would be much appreciated. We've recently started requiring that edits be verifiable, and it always helps if people can do it as they go along, since finding a citation after the fact can be very difficult. Thanks! --TreyHarris 10:00, 7 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your cite request has been honored. --M Drusus 11:55, 10 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This doesn't actually cite the fact that I was wondering about. The IRS page says, "Of my allocated tips, I tip-out 15% to the busboy and 5% to the bar". You can't end up behind that way; the tip-out percentage is based on tips, not on sales. I was looking for a citation that some waiters have to tip out based on sales, as I've never heard of that before. Of course, it would result in the possibility that you could end up behind. Thanks! --TreyHarris 16:35, 10 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It was more difficult to find a cite for the tipping out based on sales. There are many discussion boards where servers note that they tip out based on sales. This cite [1] was the best one that did not come from a message board. Having worked before in the service industry, i know for a fact that this is the practice at many establishments. --M Drusus 22:21, 10 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
