16:16:58, 23 August 2016 review of submission by Samanthalynn13

Hi, my entry for FishUSA was declined for lack of sources. I was wondering how many sources I need for it to be approved? Also, can cited sources be in print, or do they have to be found on the internet? I look forward to hearing back from you soon. Thank you!

Hello. It depends. You need enough reliable sources to establish verifiability and notability. Also, cited sources do not have to come from only the Internet. They can also come from printed material. —MRD2014 (talk) (contribs) 16:21, 23 August 2016 (UTC)

Analog Clocks too exist on Wikipedia if you want to add them. Over here - {{Analog Clock}} {{Analog Clock 2}} {{Analog Clock 3}} {{Analog Clock 4}} VarunFEB2003 I am Offline 15:39, 24 August 2016 (UTC)

@VarunFEB2003: Thanks, but the digital clock on there is part of a template that I use: Template:Calendar clock with Wikipedia stats. —MRD2014 (talk) (contribs) 18:05, 24 August 2016 (UTC)

Page mover

Hello, MRD2014. Your account has been granted the "extendedmover" user right, either following a request for it or demonstrating familiarity with working with article names and moving pages. You are now able to rename pages without leaving behind a redirect, and move subpages when moving the parent page(s).

Please take a moment to review Wikipedia:Page mover for more information on this user right, especially the criteria for moving pages without leaving redirect. Please remember to follow post-move cleanup procedures and make link corrections where necessary, including broken double-redirects when suppressredirect is used. This can be done using Special:WhatLinksHere. It is also very important that no one else be allowed to access your account, so you should consider taking a few moments to secure your password. As with all user rights, be aware that if abused, or used in controversial ways without consensus, your page mover status can be revoked.

Useful links:

If you do not want the page mover right anymore, post here, or just let me know. Thank you, and happy editing! ~ Rob13Talk 17:25, 25 August 2016 (UTC)

Granted with the understanding that talk page messages will be left to prevent confusion from new editors. Relying on the move log to direct new users to their pages isn't that solid of a strategy, imo. ~ Rob13Talk 17:25, 25 August 2016 (UTC)
@BU Rob13: Thank you for granting me with the page mover right. I do agree with leaving messages for users as a courtesy when userfying their pages or moving them to the draft space, and also to notify them so that they're not confused. —MRD2014 (talk) (contribs) 20:37, 25 August 2016 (UTC)
As an interesting side note, I wonder whether the move log is easily visible on mobile browsers... ~ Rob13Talk 20:58, 25 August 2016 (UTC)
@BU Rob13: Just to go Special:Log/move on mobile view. —MRD2014 (talk) (contribs) 21:00, 25 August 2016 (UTC)
I meant from the POV of trying to access the previous page's location. You had mentioned the red box at PERM, but I doubt that's fully visible on mobile browsers. This isn't relevant to your user right, by the way, I'm just curious now. I'll take a look tomorrow when I'm stuck on a bus for a couple hours. ~ Rob13Talk 21:03, 25 August 2016 (UTC)
@BU Rob13: It's not visible on mobile (example) but it is on desktop (example). —MRD2014 (talk) (contribs) 21:13, 25 August 2016 (UTC)

I honestly believe that this article has significant coverage. The topic meets the notability guidelines and my references are true.

If you want to re-submit it, go right ahead, but I'll let someone else review so that you get reviews from multiple people. —MRD2014 (talk) (contribs) 13:48, 26 August 2016 (UTC)

Pageswap script for convenience

Hi MDR2014, thought I'd let you know that I've written a script here (js) that semi-automates round-robin moves for convenience, and thought you may want to try it out. You'd simply click "Swap" and enter a page destination, the script performs the 3 moves as necessary (saves time having to manually go through the move form 3 times). (It doesn't correct redirects afterwards, that's still manual)

Anyway feel free to adapt this script as you see fit, cheers :) — Andy W. (talk ·ctb) 15:36, 28 August 2016 (UTC)

@Andy M. Wang: Okay thanks for letting me know. —MRD2014 (talk) (contribs) 16:12, 28 August 2016 (UTC)

Langley Holdings Page

Good morning, I Hope you are well. My Draft of an english Langley Holdings plc page has been declined apparently it reads to much like an advertisement (even though nothing is being sold) the copy is a direct translation of an already existing page. I had the German Langley Holdings page translated into English (the pne you declined) how do i proceed if a review of your decision is not possible what changes would you suggest to get the article online ?

Kind regards,

Nick

Hello Nickm94. Advertising on Wikipedia has nothing to do with something being sold (see Wikipedia:Spam). It does appear that you removed the peacock words, but the submission is currently unreferenced. It will not be accepted without references. —MRD2014 (talk) (contribs) 20:31, 30 August 2016 (UTC)

How to remove, Template:prod blp/dated from the article page

I added reliable references in the article page and i can still see "proposed deletion" i would like your help to remove it from the page, --Danwalizey (talk) 03:43, 3 September 2016 (UTC)

@Danwalizey: I did remove it. David.moreno72 later added a speedy deletion template, which you may not remove. You can click the "Contest this speedy deletion" button if you disagree. —MRD2014 (talk) (contribs) 11:47, 3 September 2016 (UTC)

My edits

Whats wrong with my edits ? How are they a spam link? i only inserted them once in my edits — Preceding unsigned comment added by Alliance Uchiha (talkcontribs) 01:10, 6 September 2016 (UTC)

@Alliance Uchiha: Per Wikipedia:External links#Restrictions on linking, it is generally not a good idea to link to YouTube videos because there is the possibility of violating copyright. That section says "Knowingly directing others to material that violates copyright might be considered contributory copyright infringement". —MRD2014 (talk) (contribs) 01:14, 6 September 2016 (UTC)

Manston

it wasn't a test. It was a query of some nonsensical text. I don't know what the author was trying to say there, but it's nonsense. Henry 115.166.17.197 (talk) 14:49, 17 September 2016 (UTC)

@115.166.17.197: The reason I reverted it was because you added three question marks, which made it look like a test edit. —MRD2014 (talk) (contribs) 14:55, 17 September 2016 (UTC)

Queenprani articles for speedy deletion

FWIW, I think the articles actually were vandalism because they were hoaxes as I was about to explain on the article talk pages. Vandal/author has been adding these names, with different professions, to various articles and has even changed the profession in the Brashika Singh article from boxer to model. The first few pages of a quick google search turned up nothing for Brashika Singh (I thought that in itself was odd for a common last name), adding to my thought that it was a hoax, therefore vandalism. In any event, you and Materialscientist were too fast for me! Materialscientist has already deleted the articles under A7. Donner60 (talk) 02:46, 22 September 2016 (UTC)

@Donner60: I had no idea who those people were, and I wanted to assume good faith. It didn't seem like vandalism to me. —MRD2014 (talk) (contribs) 02:47, 22 September 2016 (UTC)
No problem, of course. I thought I should explain because otherwise my rationale might have been considered off-base or otherwise dubious. It shows why I used vandalism instead of A7, again FWIW. Same proper result would be reached either way and now has been reached. By the way, I have seen your good work on many occasions so I know you are conscientious, careful and a great contributor. Donner60 (talk) 02:53, 22 September 2016 (UTC)
@Donner60: Thanks for the compliment! —MRD2014 (talk) (contribs) 02:54, 22 September 2016 (UTC)

removed info

Hi. I posted the info about Kevin and Bean because, if you listened to the radio program, you would know that "Kevin doesn't watch the news....'cause he's a kid". If fact they actually play a piece of audio where a small kid says that exact line when they refer to Kevin. I'm not being mean to Kevin. Most Kevin and Bean listeners would find my post to be hilarious. As would Kevin. 71.53.182.138 (talk) 18:17, 30 September 2016 (UTC)

This arbitration case has been closed and the final decision is available at the link above. The following remedies have been enacted:

  1. Michael Hardy is reminded that:
    1. Administrators are expected to set an example with their behavior, including refraining from incivility and responding patiently to good-faith concerns about their conduct, even when those concerns are expressed suboptimally.
    2. All administrators are expected to keep their knowledge of core policies reasonably up to date.
    3. Further misconduct using the administrative tools will result in sanctions.
  2. MjolnirPants is reminded to use tactics that are consistent with Wikipedia policies and guidelines, and the 4th Pillar when dealing with other users they are in dispute with.
  3. The Arbitration Committee is reminded to carefully consider the appropriate scope of future case requests. The committee should limit "scope creep" and focus on specific items that are within the scope of the duties and responsibilities outlined in Arbitration Policy.

Template editing

Your account has been granted the "templateeditor" user permission, allowing you to edit templates and modules that have been protected with template protection. It also allows you to bypass the title blacklist, giving you the ability to create and edit editnotices. Before you use this user right, please read Wikipedia:Template editor and make sure you understand its contents. In particular, you should read the section on wise template editing and the criteria for revocation.

You can use this user right to perform maintenance, answer edit requests, and make any other simple and generally uncontroversial edits to templates, modules, and edinotices. You can also use it to enact more complex or controversial edits, after those edits are first made to a test sandbox, and their technical reliability as well as their consensus among other informed editors has been established. If you are willing to process edit requests on templates and modules, keep in mind that you are taking responsibility to ensure the edits have consensus and are technically sound.

This user right gives you access to some of Wikipedia's most important templates and modules; it is critical that you edit them wisely and that you only make edits that are backed up by consensus. It is also very important that no one else be allowed to access your account, so you should consider taking a few moments to secure your password.

If you do not want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time.
