Sabrina Lloyd
[edit]Hi, I removed Image:Sabrina Lloyd in Sports Night.JPG from the Sabrina Lloyd article. Even though it has a very clear source and fair use rationale. Congratulations on that btw, not many non-free image have that. However the image is still replaceable with a free content image per Wikipedia:Non-free content criteria#1. Garion96 (talk) 18:12, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
- It is, for sure, not allowed in the infobox. Maybe in another place in the article. but before you do, please read Wikipedia:Non-free content criteria and check if it fits all the criteria. Note, all this is quite complex but we are a free content encyclopedia and we place limitations on non-free content. Garion96 (talk) 19:15, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
- In general only free content images. Images released under a free license like the GFDL or some (not all) Creative Commons licenses. The infobox image is only to show how the actress looks like, so any image could do, therefore a non-free content image is replaceable there. There are exceptions, like when a person is deceased or other reasons when a free content replacement can not be made. Normally we ask for copyright holders to release images under a free content license. See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission and look at successes from one editor at User:Videmus Omnia/Free Images. When the non-free image can be used in this regard you should look at WP:NFCC#8 which states: "Significance. Non-free content is used only if its presence would significantly increase readers' understanding of the topic, and its omission would be detrimental to that understanding". Garion96 (talk) 19:26, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
- If you were to upload a free content image copyright would not be an issue. With Fair use copyright is always an issue. Plus the fact that the legal term fair use is not really compatible with Wikipedia:Non-free content criteria. The criteria are much stricter then the legal term for the reason we are a free content encyclopedia. Wikipedia is an unfinished product and not in a hurry. If there is a non-free content image in the infobox, there would be no incentive for anyone to release an image under a free content license. Imagine I ask the agent of Sabrina Lloyd of a free content image. He sees the non-free content image and says, no, I am happy with the way things are. Replaceable is not about "I can replace this image now" it is "there is a possibility that a free content can be found" The goal of Wikipedia is to make a free content encyclopedia. Request reason:
I wish to discuss why I was blocked and I hope to resolve the matter, 1st of all I'd like to point out something, I have done nothing wrong I created an account, I read the articles describing the working of wikipedia and how to upload images, I did so and attached all of the relevant information making the image I uploaded perfectly acceptable, I have opperated in a totally acceptable manner. I live in a house with many people, for all I know there are two people or even one person who made the accounts of Snootchie44 and PixieGuard, and I'll take your word for it that my IP address is 81.129.22.38, I found a picture of an actress who I knew and recognised after I made an account and I uploaded the picture, it was in my files I didn't know why it was there and as soon as I can I will ask the people who I live with if they know anything about it, about your point of me uploading the same image into the same article as PixieGuard did, don't you think that its logical and sensible for me to upload a picture of Sabrina Lloyd into a Sabrina Lloyd article, what other article would I upload it into, if it was to be put anywhere on Wikipedia thats where it should have been put. It may seem like coincidence that I uploaded the same image and if I where you, I would have a hard time believing me to, but search Occam's Razor into Wikipedia and read the article, the basic principle is that the simplest explanation is often the right one, and also do not assert that of which you have no prove. You can either believe that I'm a sad pathetic person who spends his life creating sock puppet accounts on Wikipedia and attempting to vandalise the system by uploading images and annoying administrators by wasting their time, or you can belive that I'm just a guy who uploaded an image, followed the rules and got screwed over by coincidence. Please listen to everything I've said, unblock me and let me try to make Wikipedia a better site with more complete articles, instead of blocking me before I can eve explain my situation, how do you expect people to help wikipedia if you don't even give them a chance.
Decline reason:
You are claiming to be unrelated to Snootchie44 but this is clearly not the case. You are coming from the same IP address and you are editing the same articles. Your claim that this is coincidence simply does not ring true. The simplest explanation for a person editing the same article from the same IP address is that they are the same person. — Yamla 16:06, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

Request reason:
You have clearly not understood my points, I never claimed that I had no relation to Snootchie44 I just said that I didn't know of one, the people who I live with don't share every area of their lifes with me, let alone a wikipedia account, you seem to suggest that it is almost impossible for me not to have known about the account, also, we live together, see each other, spend alot of time with each other, and because of this vast length of contact, we have the same intersests, look up the same articles, I'm not suggesting that we have spent s much time together that we're practically identical I'm just saying we're similiar, people are easily infulenced by those they spend time with, I was infact introduced to Slider, Sports Night and The West Wing by people I live with, I discovered the image in my folders inside a folder titled Wikipedia Pic, I simply uploaded it in an oblivious state to the activities of Snootchie44, also, If I were to use the account of Snootchie44, would I not be blocked for being a puppet acount of PixieGuard and my own account MR-WRIGLEY, this seems to indicate that you will never allow me to use Wikipedia because you'll always block my IP for puppetry, puppetry of which you have no solid prove or evidence, only your suspicions which seem to be all you go by, say Snootchie44 had forgotten his password and made a new profile, it would be completely unfair to block him for puppetry there, and what exactly have I done wrong, I haven't used multiple accounts to back myself up in disputes, I haven't used them to upload illegal copyright images, I haven't infact used them at all, and even if I had been the one using them I don't seem to have used them in violation of Wikpedia rules, you say that coincidence doesn't ring true, have you never happened across a coincidence in you life, they are common events, I understand that you find it hard to believe me, but me and you are living in a world with 6 billion people, all of these people do common things and come across coincidences everyday, is it not possible that someone who I live with has done this, if you decide against unblocking me for the time being, fine, I've said my peace, and you will have decided against me despite the bedrock principles of freedom of speech, but atleast tell me when my IP can work again instead of blcoking me for possibly forever, thank you
Decline reason:
Coincidences do indeed happen. However, multiple accounts editing the same items, with the same views, from the same IP is bit difficult to accept as coincidence. — Vassyana 23:46, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
