Your username

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. I saw that you edited or created Mutant Mouse Research and Resource Centers, and I noticed that your username, "MMRRC", may not comply with our username policy. Please note that you may not use a username that represents the name of a company, group, organization, product, or website. Examples of usernames that are not allowed include "XYZ Company", "MyWidgetsUSA.com", and "Foobar Museum of Art". However, you are invited to use a username that contains such a name if it identifies you personally, such as "Jack Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87".

Please also note that Wikipedia does not allow accounts to be shared by multiple people, and that you may not advocate for or promote any company, group, organization, product, or website, regardless of your username. Moreover, I recommend that you read our conflict of interest guideline. If you are a single individual and are willing to contribute to Wikipedia in an unbiased manner, please create a new account or request a change of username, by completing this form, that complies with our username policy. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you. 331dot (talk) 15:55, 12 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on your user page, User:MMRRC, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be blatant advertising which only promotes or publicises a company, product, group or service, and which is a violation of our policies regarding acceptable use of user pages; user pages are intended for active editors of Wikipedia to communicate with one another as part of the process of creating encyclopedic content, and should not be mistaken for free webhosting resources. Please read the guidelines on spam, the guidelines on user pages, and, especially, our FAQ for Organizations.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. 331dot (talk) 15:55, 12 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

This page is not unambiguously promotional, because... (your reason here) --MMRRC (talk) 16:10, 12 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

We are government funded nonprofit that provides mouse related research information and models to medical researchers around the world. Our data is published and cited in science publications. Other government funded research repositories are listed in Wikipedia like:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EUCOMM ( this is our European counterpart) We are exactly the same.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Knockout_Mouse_Consortium https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Mouse_Phenotyping_Consortium

I will work on rephrasing the text copy for our wikipage

Please review the Userpage policy for guidelines on what can appear on your user page; please also indicate that you have read the above post about your username. Usernames cannot be that of an organization- which also means you can't use your userpage to discuss your organization; it is for discussing yourself as a Wikipedia editor. I would add that your use of "we" suggests that this account is being shared; that is also not permitted. 331dot (talk) 16:12, 12 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

This page is not unambiguously promotional, because... (your reason here) --MMRRC (talk) 16:38, 12 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The reason the user name is the same page as this non profit research repository is so that it can be easy to remember. We are a government funded organization that provides information related to mouse models for the greater biomedical research community. We are not in the business of selling information, but providing information (outreach) so that medical researchers do not have to reproduce the efforts of others.

We are like a library of mouse models and mouse genomic data for researchers and graduate students.

You don't have to be selling something to be promoting something. Your username cannot be that of an organization and you will almost certainly be asked to change it. If you want your organization's name to be part of your username, you can do that, such as "JohnPublic at MMRRC", but a username that is simply that of an organization is not permitted. If you would like assistance in changing your name, please ask. If you have further comment, please edit this page directly. 331dot (talk) 16:41, 12 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

There have been two problems with this account: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation or group, which is also against policy, as an account must be for just one person. Because of those problems, the account has been blocked indefinitely from editing.

If you intend to make useful contributions about some topic other than your business or organisation, you may request an unblock. To do so, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:CentralAuth to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy. Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:

  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 17:54, 12 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Mutant Mouse Research and Resource Centers requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from https://www.mmrrc.org/ and subpages. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.
