[edit]Hello, I'm Materialscientist. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Elly (dancer), but you didn't provide a source. I’ve removed it for now, but if you’d like to include a citation to a reliable source and re-add it, please do so! If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Materialscientist (talk) 11:53, 4 May 2020 (UTC)
I am the reliable source. I am friends with Nelly’s mother! I think it unfair to name his (Redacted) father but not his hard working mother. MKAMisawa (talk) 12:36, 4 May 2020 (UTC)
I mean Elly. (Autocorrect) MKAMisawa (talk) 12:39, 4 May 2020 (UTC)
- Hi MKAMisawa. A couple of things about Wikipedia since you seem to be new to editing. Wikipedia defines a reliable source in a certain way as explained in Wikipedia:Reliable sources and this is what Materialscientist meant by reverting your edit. This doesn't mean you are not a reliable or good person or that the things you know aren't true as explained here, it just means that what you personally may know is considered to be Wikipedia:Original research and is not considered appropriate for a Wikipedia article unless it's something which can be verified through citations to published and accessible reliable sources. If you are aware of any newspaper or magazine articles, books or other publications which have established reputations for responsible editorial control that mention Elly's mother by name, then it might be possible to add such information to the article. I say possible because even in cases where information can be verified as reliable, it still might not be suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia for various reasons, such as WP:BLPNAMES or WP:BLPPRIVACY, and any disagreements over such things are going to be expected to resolved through Wikipedia:Dispute resolution. So, if you are aware any sources which mention his mother by name, please start a discussion about them at Talk:Elly (dancer) and give other editors a chance to assess them. Some other Wikipedia pages you should take a look at are Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons and Wikipedia:Conflict of interest. Please avoid making comments like you did above about Elly's father anywhere on Wikipedia since such things are not considered appropriate per WP:BLPREMOVE and WP:BLPCOI no matter how true you think (or know) them to be. Wikipedia pages are not intended to be battlegrounds for settling or continuing real world disputes and if you continue to try and do such a thing you will find your account quickly blocked by an administrator. I get that you were probably frustrated when you posted that, but you shouldn't do something similar again because it won't help you achieve your Wikipedia goals, whatever they may be. In addition, since you're friends with Elly's mom, you're going to be considered to have a conflict of interest with respect to anything related to him or her on Wikipedia. This means you should try an avoid adding any new content or editing any existing content about either to Wikipedia and instead follow the suggestions given in WP:COIADVICE and WP:PSCOI#Steps for engagement. There are editors who are willing to help those with COI address concerns they feel exist in Wikipedia articles about subjects they are connected to, but there are guidelines to be followed when seeking such assistance. You can ask for more help about this at Wikipedia:Conflict of interest/Noticeboard or even the Wikipedia:Teahouse, but you should ask for help and not try to change things yourself. -- Marchjuly (talk) 01:09, 5 May 2020 (UTC)
