Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, MICRC2020, and welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, such as User:MICRC2020/sandbox, may not conform to some of Wikipedia's content policies and may not be retained. In short, the topic of an article must be notable and have already been the subject of publication by reliable and independent sources.

Please review Your first article for an overview of the article creation process. The Article Wizard is available to help you create an article, where it will be reviewed and considered for publication. For information on how to request a new article that can be created by someone else, see Requested articles. If you are stuck, come to the Teahouse, where experienced Wikipedians can help you through the processes.

New to Wikipedia? Please consider taking a look at our introductory tutorial or reviewing the contributing to Wikipedia page to learn the basics about editing. Below are a few other good pages about article creation.

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, ask me on my talk page. You can also type {{help me}} on this page, followed by your question, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome! Drm310 🍁 (talk) 06:09, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because of the following problems: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

You may request a change of username and unblock if you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization. To do this, first search Special:CentralAuth for available usernames that comply with the username policy. Once you have found an acceptable username, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement.
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. Salvio giuliano 08:03, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without a good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

As the Michigan Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission Executive Director, I am trying to place their inaugural work as a public reference in Wikipedia. We are an independent, public, and nonpartisan organization whose work may be replicated as a way of democracy in America.

Here is our website, www.michigan.gov/MICRC. This is no different than the entries for Redistricting in Wisconsin and Redistricting in California.

It would be helpful to talk with someone on the phone to assist me in developing this page correctly.

Thanks for your consideration!

Decline reason:

We have no central editoral staff to call; Wikipedia is a volunteer project with participants from around the world. You wrote a very promotional piece for your organization. Wikipedia is not for telling the world about good work like (at least I think personally) that of your organization. We are not interested in what an organization says about itself, but what independent reliable sources with significant coverage choose on their own to say about it, showing how it meets the special Wikipedia definition of a notable organization. It's likely that your organization merits an article, but articles are typically written by independent editors wholly unconnected with the subject in any way. I greatly apologize for being frank, but our preference would be that you or anyone associated with the Commission not be the one to write about it. Please read conflict of interest and paid editing. We typically in this situation would want to see the user build up a good edit history demonstrating their understanding of relevant Wikipedia guidelines before permitting them to indirectly contribute about COI related subjects. If there are other topics you are interested in editing about, please tell what. I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 23:13, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia is not a directory, so an organization is not entitled to have a Wikipedia article just because it exists. All topics must be notable by Wikipedia's definition to merit inclusion. In the specific case of a company or organization, it must meet the notability criteria for companies and organizations. For this to happen, the company must have already received significant coverage in multiple reliable and independent sources. We have no interest in what an organization wishes to say about itself, as this is an inherent conflict of interest. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 19:37, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I will offer one more piece of advice, only because I have noticed a recent uptick in this kind of occurrence. Do not be tempted to hire an individual or company to write a Wikipedia article for you. These individuals frequently make promises that they have no ability to deliver on. If you see someone guaranteeing that the article they write will be accepted, or be preserved at version that you prefer, then they are a scammer. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 04:47, 23 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
