Article choice

[edit]

I think New York State Council on the ArtsI.Am.Gia is a great article choice with lots of room to grow. I look forward to seeing what you put together! —mako 23:26, 11 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Whoops. I got the wrong article! —mako 23:52, 11 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Seraphimblade. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to I.Am.Gia have been undone because they appeared to be promotional. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted; Wikipedia articles should be written objectively, using independent sources, and from a neutral perspective. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. Seraphimblade Talk to me 02:57, 19 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Warning icon Please stop. If you continue to add promotional or advertising material to Wikipedia, as you did at I.Am.Gia, you may be blocked from editing. Seraphimblade Talk to me 03:27, 19 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm a bit confused on what is promotional in what I added. Would you mind elaborating please? From my point of view I am just adding information about the company and how the founder started the company, not advertising the company to others. Thank you. MGR444 (talk) 03:46, 19 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sure. As an example, your most recent edit [1] included this: The company name comes from the supermodel Gia Carangi. The name of the company was formulated around a fictional character based on the Instagram "It Girl." Pallister created the character of Gia to be a strong and independent woman that would inspire and empower other women. A fair bit of that is not even supported by the source, and the rest is marketese fluff. Articles shouldn't contain anything like that, as they are required to be neutral, not fluff. (Not to mention it's self-contradictory, was the name of the company based on a real person or a fictional one?) In addition, the rest cited this source: [2]. That is a "Forbes contributor", and those are not reliable. Don't use "Forbes contributor" material as a source. Seraphimblade Talk to me 03:59, 19 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
