User talk:MACKXIMUS
Hello, MACKXIMUS, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Yunshui, and I am your Online Ambassador for Dr Mynlieff's Neurobiology course. My job here is to help you work within Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, to answer any questions that you have about editing here, and to act as your advocate in the (unlikely) event that you find yourself in a dispute with another user.
You are welcome to contact me at any time by leaving a message on my Wikipedia talkpage or by emailing me. I will respond to any messages within 24 hours (though I aim to be faster!), but if you need more immediate help, you can ask questions of experienced editors at The Teahouse or get live help via Wikipedia's IRC channel (connect here).
Here are some pages that you might find helpful:
- Introduction to Wikipedia
- The five pillars of Wikipedia
- How to edit a page and How to develop articles
- Simplified Manual of Style
Please remember to sign your messages on talk pages by typing four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. Once again, if you need help with any aspect of Wikipedia, please just ask; it's what I'm here for. Enjoy your course! Yunshui 雲水 09:20, 28 January 2013 (UTC)
Note from instructor
[edit]MACKXIMUS, where is your userpage with links and image?--MMBiology (talk) 00:13, 31 January 2013 (UTC)
- If you need help adding an image to your userpage (part of this week's task), I've prepared a short essay here which will explain the basic process. Yunshui 雲水 10:57, 31 January 2013 (UTC)
Lists
[edit]Hi MACKXIMUS. Having seen your ongoing draft, I thought you might appreciate a bit of info on list formatting in Wikipedia.
To create a numerical list, use the hash symbol. Writing this:
# First point
# Second point
## Subpoint of second point
### Sub-subpoint
### Second sub-subpoint
# Third point
will render in the text as this:
- First point
- Second point
- Subpoint of second point
- Sub-subpoint
- Second sub-subpoint
- Subpoint of second point
- Third point
If you want to create a bulleted list, use asterisks instead of hash marks:
* One
* Two
* Three
appears as:
- One
- Two
- Three
Hope this information is helpful, feel free to ask me for clarification if you need it. Yunshui 雲水 08:35, 15 February 2013 (UTC)

Help us improve the Wikipedia Education Program
[edit]Hi MACKXIMUS! As a student editor on Wikipedia, you have a lot of valuable experience about what it's like to edit as a part of a classroom assignment. In order to help other students like you enjoy editing while contributing positively to Wikipedia, it's extremely helpful to hear from real student editors about their challenges, successes, and support needs. Please take a few minutes to answer these questions by clicking below. (Note that the responses are posted to a public wiki page.) Thanks!
