FA candidacy
[edit]Since you helped me reach GA status for Ellis Paul, I thought I'd ask you this question in my quest to better understand the Wiki environment and how things work. I'm still very new at editing but have been working diligently to learn how to write/edit a good article. I made substantial edits to the Ellis Paul article and nominated it for FA yesterday. As you can imagine (congrats on Slayer!) I'm quite nervous - even more so since there has been no response... although articles nominated after Ellis Paul have received responses. Is that typical? Do editors review only subjects they have a personal interest in? Thank you (again) for your time and consideration. Kmzundel 14:31, 9 February 2007 (UTC)
- I'm somewhat relieved. I understand that it's easier for editors to see blatant defects. The picture on piano (in the growing up section) was taken in Maine - so that's why it's there. And some articles were NOT retrieved online - I have them in hard copy. Actually I have most of them in hard copy.....so I only retrieved the ones that I could - for the readers....Oh, I think I get it now....if I did retrieve it online, I should put the date retrieved. OK...I will retrieve them again now and add date. Thanks again. Will try to be patient. Kmzundel 11:50, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
Re: Slayer
[edit]If the heavy metal Wikiproject was properly handled it'd be great, but most heavy metal FAs read like fancruft at the moment - like we're praying at their altar, which is silly as we're supposed to present a neutral point of view. Good luck with the Slayer wikiproject, though I don't think you need to form a Project to improve articles you like. LuciferMorgan 21:32, 28 January 2007 (UTC)
- Congratulations on the star, M3tal H3ad - so refreshing to see someone actually work to bring an article to status after PR :-) Best, SandyGeorgia (Talk) 14:35, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah that's true. I hope I can bring Christ Illusion to FA status when I find time. Should be soon. LuciferMorgan 17:25, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
- Do you know for a quote to say Slayer is thrash metal? Some idiot from the Metal Wikiproject has decided that Christ Illusion is groove metal, and not thrash. I seriously hate that Project. LuciferMorgan 19:27, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
- Just found one - hopefully I'll find another now. LuciferMorgan 19:34, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
- Just thought you should keep an extra eye on the Slayer article for a few days. Because of the Grammy win, a few editors seem to be popping over and adding / changing stuff, most to do with the Grammy win. LuciferMorgan 10:16, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
Congratulations!
[edit]I remember peer reviewing Slayer a while back, and now I see it's reached FA. I just wanted to commend you for your work, and if I knew how to give barnstars I'd be half tempted to hand one out. Keep it up. Seegoon 22:34, 10 February 2007 (UTC)

FAC
[edit]This FAC seems to be falling through the cracks, would you mind taking a look, it's quite good, but needs a little work. Looking forward to seeing "Reign in Blood" as a FA, bty. What an incredible album! + Ceoil 17:07, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
Yikes, M3tal, I got very busy and lost track of your message on my talk page; I see that you've changed your mind? Are you sure? Speak now or forever hold your peace <grin> because I'm going to be traveling (with limited internet access) for the better part of the rest of Feb and March. It looks like your biggest obstacle is going to be that you just don't have a lot of material to work with; it's certainly a GA, but I don't know if you have enough content yet to go for FA. Important sections are still pretty short, but I 'spose that's all you can get from reliable sources. One thing I didn't understand: The album received virtually no radio airplay but became the band's first to enter the Billboard 200 ... if it received no airplay, how did it succeed? You've got a really fine start! I wonder what's taking GA so long. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 01:43, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
- It succeeded like most other metal albums do; by them touring their asses off and word of mouth. I agree with all what Sandy says here though as concerns the article's biggest obstacle, and the last bit about GA (some take 2 days, some over a month??). LuciferMorgan 10:24, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
- The "Reception" section seems short; maybe you can find some sources to expand? On the references question you asked (about linking to a search page), I really don't know the answer. It would be cool if someone would figure that out and let me know. The place to start would be WP:CITE, digging into some of the websites listed at the bottom which explain how to correctly cite websources; one of those must talk about that issue somewhere. I've again got a lot of travel on the horizon, so I can't really dig into a new topic right now. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 14:55, 14 February 2007 (UTC)
I've removed the fair use image as not directly relevant - better for something like Creation-evolution controversy. The lead, however, needs cited as it's a very controversial article, and would otherwise be more prone to POV edits of the lead. Adam Cuerden talk 20:12, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

Rock music Wikiproject invitation
[edit]Hello WikiProject Metal member.
WikiProject Metal music is important in expanding encyclopedic coverage of the metal. It brings attention to the lesser-known bands, and significantly improves the quality of the famous ones. Five Featured articles and two formers is proof of that.
This is the stuff I wish to achieve with the somewhat recently resurrected WikiProject Rock music. I hope to also attract attention to rock music articles of all sorts, and hopefully change some to GA or FA status. I invite you to come join us, and embrace the links between metal and rock music in general.
Rock on.
-- Reaper X 04:56, 18 February 2007 (UTC)
Can you give the article a new rating please? I'd be real grateful. I've given it a decent rewrite, though the lead needs work. LuciferMorgan 13:56, 18 February 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for the barnstar, which was much appreciated. I intend to rewrite "Jihad" also, and was considering somehow getting Christ Illusion to a featured topic somehow. My main concern at the moment though is getting Christ Illusion to FAC - I have some more info I've stumbled upon to use in the article to add, I need to rewrite one sentence per yours and Jeffpw's requests, and sort out all the sources per Sandy's request. I've commented on a few of the Slayer peer reviews today, so take a look at them - I noticed though you've yet to implement my suggestion for a "Style and influence" section to the Tom Araya article :). I added some stuff to the "Goals" by the way, but nothing major - just that all Slayer song articles have an infobox. LuciferMorgan 22:56, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
- Finding info on Lombardo's influence has worn me out now :) LuciferMorgan 00:12, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
Thankyou for reviewing the Bramall lane article, and many thanks for your suggestions. Just a few questions however: What do these sentences mean? "The ground has been all seated since 1994, all seated?", "The oldest present stand, present stand?" and "Seated since 1991, Seated?" The line "most boisterous home fans sit..." is not WP:OR. It has been referenced in the later section, regarding Bramall Roar. L.J.SkinnerWOT?|I did 22:52, 18 February 2007 (UTC)
- It wasn't to do with references, those sentences are kind of confusing and unclear. M3tal H3ad 07:00, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
- No, I meant to ask what is confusing about the sentence "The ground has been all seated since 1994" or "The oldest present stand". The referencing was a separate point - I asked why you thought that "most boisterous home fans sit..." was WP:OR. If you could explain what you mean so I can fix the article, and then I'd appreciate your advice. L.J.SkinnerWOT?|I did 17:44, 19 February 2007 (UTC)

Queen FAC
[edit]There's been a few further outbreaks of sockpuppet-itus on the Queen FAC page. Well done on first spotting it, but can you go back and clarify your comment; I guess you meant "both supporting this", but the current phrasing could be read as a support.
Reign in Blood is shaping up very nicely, bty. Is there a Rubin bio out yet? Might contain some good info on the recording sessions. Ceoil 23:23, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
- A Rubin bio by Jake Brown is due in spring 2008. By the way, I've renominated Still Reigning for GA so it can be looked at again. LuciferMorgan 03:01, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
CI Request
[edit]Since I've addressed all raised concerns and added all the information I can find, I wish to get this into FAC rather soon. This is where I'm hoping you can come in and save the day, since someone has complained as regards the referencing style, and I don't wish for such hiccups at FAC. I'm hoping you can convert all the Christ Illusion refs from their current style to the cite template you use like this[1], and then I can just do this to them after you've finished[1], which'll mean they're exactly the same but all on the same lines (click edit on this section to see what I'm on about). If we can fix this, it'll mean all Slayer articles use a consistent citation style - you could do it at the CI article or User:LuciferMorgan/Draft. You'd be doing me a huge favour, and it'll definitely help me to personally nominate the article for FA and get another FA in the bag for the Slayer Wikiproject. Please? LuciferMorgan 04:50, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for the help! It looks like the Slayer Wikiproject is set to kick some major backside! :) LuciferMorgan 20:53, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
- By the way - Eyes of the Insane is on the Did You Know? section of the main page today on 23rd Feb. Check Template talk:Did you know on how you can nominate articles and if they're eligible or not. LuciferMorgan 22:56, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
- I'm going to expand Jihad soon and try getting that on the main page also. LuciferMorgan 00:14, 23 February 2007 (UTC)
DYK
[edit]I'd appreciate you not referring to reasonable objections as being those of a "crybaby". My comments about those two articles that you nominated for DYK are legitimate, in that the two rules governing what turns up are time (i.e. When the article was created/expanded) and length (i.e. How long the article is now and how long it was before expansion where applicable). In relation to the one about the song, it was the length issue which I felt to be more serious, since there was certainly a spate of editing on the 19th anyway.
I can appreciate that you feel hard done by here - I've been in the same situation before, where an article I believed should be included was vetoed for not being interesting enough or something like that. The fact remains, though, that there are rules about what gets in and doesn't get in, and bending them without discussion is going to cause problems down the track.
If you have any questions or comments about the DYK process, you're most welcome to post on my Talk page and I'll see what I can do to help. BigHaz - Schreit mich an 11:26, 23 February 2007 (UTC)

Proposal Big Four Wikiproject
[edit]I have just created the Megadeth Wikiproject. But I think that the scope is too narrow (just Megadeth) and I think that the Metal Genere Wikiproject is too large of a scope to handle everything. I propose that we make a Wikiprject Big Four, or something to that effect to cover the Big Four American Metal bands, Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, and Anthrax. I'm eger to hear any opinons. Your GA nomination of Jeff Hanneman
[edit]The article Jeff Hanneman you nominated as a good article has passed , see Talk:Jeff Hanneman for eventual comments about the article. Good luck in future nominations. Kyra~(talk) 01:43, 25 February 2007 (UTC)
- Cool. The person who put it on hold has been busy this week, and told me to pass it, but instead of that I placed a request on GAC talk for someone to review the article. And now it's passed. Congratulations! I'm guessing after Lombardo that Kerry King, and then Paul Bostaph will be in your sights? LuciferMorgan 02:10, 25 February 2007 (UTC)
- God Hates Us All will be easy - Kerrang has a review, Rolling Stone etc. I was actually considering working on it after rewriting Jihad, but since you're going to I'll leave it mostly there - unless you'd consider a collaboration? I use your citing style now so shouldn't be difficult. That'd be cool - I think it could do at least GA, and maybe could do FA.
- I reckon you're better off getting Reign in Blood to FA, and then getting Raining Blood to GA (convert the one old cite I added ages back). As for Jesus Saves, integrate the info into Reign in Blood and remove it from the ambiguous page, leaving a link. I reckon you could get a featured topic with it then, especially since all the members will be GA or higher by that time (Lombardo is a possible FA after a bit of work I think). If some moany person asks for Rubin to be GA or higher, then I'll help getting him to GA or higher since he was executive producer on CI.
- By the way, what do you make of this Big Four Project? LuciferMorgan 02:48, 25 February 2007 (UTC)
- Reign in Blood was recorded in LA 110%, but at which studio I don't know. I agree with your sentiments as concerns the Big Four Project - it's a shame Skeletor hasn't been about since Jan 4th, because I think he would've made a good go of a Megadeth Project. Anthrax articles, all of them, need work and a lot of it, and as for Metallica, well I think all their related articles attract too much unhelpful edits (if they didn't, I might've had a go at St. Anger by now, and the same for Maiden's latest CD). As a whole, there aren't enough good metal editors out there. I look forward to the GHUA collaboration - my idea would be to wholly rewrite some sections really as they're a bit crufty. LuciferMorgan 03:21, 25 February 2007 (UTC)
- You've fixed my main concern which was Jihad being compared to Angel of Death, so should be fine. That part could be expanded upon with a quote or two, but that's it - if you wait a few days while its a GA nominee for me to rewrite Jihad, you could crib the info from there. One thing though; Cradle of Filth did not cover the song; they actually covered the song Hell Awaits - the only cover I can find of Angel of Death is by Monstrosity, known these days as George Fisher's ex band. I'll help you in any way I can to get it to FA. LuciferMorgan 04:44, 25 February 2007 (UTC)
Could use your input
[edit]Hello again. You passed the Bradley Joseph article to GA back in December and I'd like I'd ask for your opinion - I want to add a "Musical style" section in, and have struggled with it for a while as I've never attemted anything like this before. I don't want to screw it up, so if you have some time, I wonder if you could look it over and tell me what you think? Its in my Sandbox. No hurry. Just need new eyes on it. Your opinion is respected and I would really appreciate your input. Thanks much. Cricket02 13:26, 25 February 2007 (UTC)
Angel of Death
[edit]Now a GA! Congratulations! Another for the Project Cabinet. LuciferMorgan 00:23, 26 February 2007 (UTC)

Heavy metal music FAR
[edit]Lucifer has nominated Heavy metal music for FAR, and to be fair the article needs work. Would you be interested in helping out? Its already been suggested the article should be structured in summary style along the lines of Punk rock, and I think between us we could put that together fairly easily. My area would be black metal/doom, I'm guessing you would be strong on speed/trash.
Hope there's no hard feelings re that bty :) Ceoil 23:39, 2 March 2007 (UTC)

- PS this quote may or may not be a bit inaccurate: "The band's producer, Rick Rubin, insisted the band not enter the recording studio, deciding to record a live DVD due to problems between Rubin and the band's record label (American Recordings)." I went to the source given in the refs. There is mention of distributors... is a distributor the same as a label? Also that particular source doesn't say Rubin forbade the band to go into the recording studio. It just kinda says/suggests that Rubin's problems caused them to put off recording something new.--Ling.Nut 19:04, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

Dave Lombardo
[edit]I've changed the discography section of Lombardo's article per the Slayer flagship article, though it probably needs amending to make it look less scruffy than I made it (feel free to do so). I omitted live albums and one Apocalyptica CD where he appears on one song per summary reasons. I think this could be a possible FAC in the future given some more work, hence the reasons for what I did. LuciferMorgan 21:31, 6 March 2007 (UTC)
- I notice at GAC you've said that certain citations cover whole paragraphs. Would you consider changing this so that the one citation cites every sentence in question? This will avoid a Hanneman repeat, and make GAC much smoother. I think it could get to FA too given a little more work etc. As concerns finding a free use image for Lombardo, ask Jkelly if he / she can help you - that user tends to make that area their Wikipedia forte. Congratulations on getting this to GA. Once King is eventually GA, that'll be all four of the main conspirators you've gotten to GA. LuciferMorgan 22:06, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
War at the Warfield
[edit]Just thought you should know the above Slayer article was recently in the "Did You Know?" section of the main page after I nominated it. Congratulations to you for your minor expansion of it etc. LuciferMorgan 21:48, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
Tenacious D
[edit]I hope I and others addressed the issues you raised. Would you be prepared to change your oppose? Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Tenacious D Tenacious D Fan (talk) 21:41, 17 March 2007 (UTC)
Doolittle (album) review
[edit]I reckon I've addressed most of the improvements you suggested. Could you take another look at the article? Thanks! CloudNine 20:41, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
- I've now addressed your comment regarding the references section. CloudNine 07:52, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
South of Heaven
[edit]While you work on "Angel of Death" etc., I'm gonna try to work South of Heaven up to GAC. LuciferMorgan 17:44, 17 March 2007 (UTC)
- It's now been rewritten by me - whether it has been improved enough to be a higher class I'm not sure. Feel free to decide yourself. LuciferMorgan 23:38, 17 March 2007 (UTC)
- I've done a small expansion of Undisputed Attitude also - probably a Start class now. LuciferMorgan 20:55, 18 March 2007 (UTC)
Christ Illusion
[edit]Do you know anyone who could write a main page request for August 8th (it's original release date) for this one? It'd be cool to see a Slayer article on the main page, better the flagship one than this, but this one's worth a try also. LuciferMorgan 19:13, 18 March 2007 (UTC)
Angel of Death
[edit]Hey, I will help out on this, have read it and its quite good; will make some tweaks in a few days. Good work though...Ceoil 21:43, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
- When are you thinking of FAing this one? Just curious... you'll have to check Wikipedia:Music samples though as the one used is slightly too long as I explained at PR. I'm keen to know when you intend taking this one to FAc though.. :) LuciferMorgan 18:06, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
- The song's live appearance on an Ozzfest album you haven't added yet, despite me mentioning it at FAC. LuciferMorgan 04:57, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
- Cool. I'm still waiting for one of the GA reviewers to take a look at the current Slayer related GACs. Feels like the page has stalled a bit. LuciferMorgan 10:44, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks, it's well appreciated. SOH is shaping up well, though it's been hard going finding info on the lyrical themes - all I've found is two sentences. LuciferMorgan 10:50, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
- You could GA review "For Tomorrow" - it's bit of an obvious fail as you'll see. LuciferMorgan 11:23, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
Big Four
[edit]The Slayer Wikiproject's been accredited with the death of the Big Four Project if you look - Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Wikipedia:WikiProject Big Four of Thrash Metal. Apparently they're going to change it to a Thrash Metal Wikiproject. That's likely to be a cock up a la the Metal Project but on a smaller scale. To be honest, while that project was alive I didn't even see the creator do anything to improve any articles whatsoever. All will happen is a few signatures and they'll sit on their ass, and then claim credit for other people's GAs and FAs - I hate Projects like that (that's why I'm trying to change the Metal Project a little, but without success thus far). LuciferMorgan 22:50, 18 March 2007 (UTC)
- Try and encourage him to work as a subproject of HMM or not set up a project at all. It'll be a tag the talk pages and forget about it exercise, mark my words, so anything to reduce the impact would be good. --kingboyk 11:45, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
