[edit]It looks as though you have a lot of great information here! My only suggestion is that some of the descriptions seem a little vague. For example, in the table for Howell's participant observation, the "brief description" seems to be too brief and does not really explain what you do in each phase. If you are concerned that the descriptions for each type of participant observation are too lengthy, I would take out anything that seems as though it is not pertinent to the understanding of it. Overall this article looks really good and is extremely informative. My suggestions would be to include a more in depth analysis of the establishing rapport section, overall I understand what this sections pertains to but I think it would be beneficial to add more detail regarding how one establishes rapport with potential participants. An in depth example of establishing rapport or suggestions would be helpful for readers to fully understand this section.
The Types of participant observation is informative, however I feel that it would be beneficial to include a section of what to do and what not to do while taking field notes (ex. how should one take notes in a way that they do not look like they are doing research?), it might be helpful to add in questions the researcher should ask themselves when considering what type of observation to conduct. The addition of limitations to each type of participant observation would be very useful as well as when one is considering which type of observation would be best for the given researchers study. Also, adding in a section of guidelines to follow when conducting participant observation would be helpful. --Nasachs (talk) 21:02, 9 October 2012 (UTC)
