Information icon Hello, I'm Oshwah. I wanted to let you know that I reverted one of your recent contributions —specifically this edit to AmBX—because it did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Help desk. Thanks. ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 11:04, 23 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm Lyndsay - The Marketing Manager of amBX. I have attempted to change the page because it no longer reflects what we do as a company. We were originally set up as a ambient lighting for the gaming industry, however this is no longer what we do. Please can you approve my edit!

Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Lyndsayclose. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page AmBX, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 11:05, 23 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Deleting our page

[edit]

Hi I'm Lyndsay and I work as Marketing Manager for amBX. As a business we no longer operate within the video game market and do not produce suitable lighting. I would like to delete the amBX wiki page as it does not reflect our brand anymore and it is creating a confusing message for customers and prospects searching for us on Google. Can you help?

Many thanks,

Lyndsay Lyndsayclose (talk) 11:49, 23 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Lyndsay, please take care to read WP:COI and WP:Your first article, you can then draft a new article in your sandbox and use {{request edit}} to suggest the changes on the article's talk page. Your previous version of the article was extremely promotional, please take care to reflect only what independant reliable sources have said about your company and remember to cite them as sources, do not cite your own marketing material or press releases. Note that it is very difficult to write an encyclopedic article and even more so when you have a conflict of interest. If your company was previously known for working with video games then we keep that information in the history section. – Thjarkur (talk) 13:26, 23 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
To be fair, the present version is just as promotional and entirely sourced using the product's website; it should have been deleted long ago, and now we could do both them and ourselves a favor by getting rid of it. Lordtobi () 13:29, 23 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

That's great thank you. Has this now been deleted or do I need to do something else?

Many thanks,

Lyndsay — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lyndsayclose (talkcontribs) 11:06, 24 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Lyndsay. Thjarkur tagged the article for "proposed deletion", which means that, unless there is opposition, the article will be deleted after a period of seven days. In its present state, though, I doubt that there will be much opposition. Regards, Lordtobi () 12:20, 24 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hello again. As of today, both amBX-related articles have been deleted. Regards, Lordtobi () 11:12, 2 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
