Thanks for uploading Image:O'Neil Promo 17a.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Bkell (talk) 03:26, 7 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Unspecified source for Image:OD17a.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:OD17a.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 07:42, 24 June 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? MER-C 07:42, 24 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. It seems you've added a lot of information to the article about this author. Unfortunately, it went directly against our policy for biographies of living people as it was completely unsourced. As a result, I've removed the main body of the article. Please do not restore it - it will probably be removed again. I'll give you a few reasons why this happened:

  • Everything on Wikipedia must have a source, preferably a reliable, published source, independent of the subject. For biographies of living people (BLPs) the policy is especially strict, for legal reasons. If you read the policy page I linked you, it explains it in detail.
  • I checked the author's own website which was linked in the article, and found a link to the Wikipedia page itself. Wikipedia is not for hosting a detailed biography on someone, especially one that was written in a non-neutral tone. It should be the other way around. Wikipedia is for bare facts, backed up by sources. A biography like that would be better suited to the author's website.
  • Because the author's website contained a link to the Wikipedia page, this suggests to me that you may be personally related to the subject, and editing under a conflict of interest, as it implies that you wrote that content for that specific purpose.
  • References should be cited with inline citations. For a guide on how to do that, see referencing for beginners.

If you want to discuss this further, you can take it the article's talk page, or my own talk page. Thanks. OohBunnies! Leave a message 19:01, 20 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
