ACS

Please do not use American Community Survey estimates without labeling them as such; city-level data on ancestry and race for the 2020 Decennial Census will not be released for another month or so. SounderBruce 17:32, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Lupinus Stubs

[edit]

Hello, LycheeDragonLover,

I work on plant pages so I noticed your recent additions of many small stub pages in Lupinus such as Lupinus wyethii, Lupinus holosericeus, Lupinus hispanicus, Lupinus ehrenbergii, etc, etc. While it is not bad to get a page started you also are not following up with adding in the information that makes an article useful. A stub page is just a placeholder. It does not give much useful information to the reader. One of the easiest things to do is to add a range section describing where the plant is found since Plants of the World Online gives ranges for all the plants it lists and there are also databases like VASCAN and USDA PLANTS.

Look at other good pages like Xerochrysum bracteatum, Adiantum viridimontanum or any of the other featured articles listed at WP:Plants or the example Plant Template on the project for inspiration on how to write just one good section of information on your articles. It is not good to just start endless stubs and move on without working to improve them to at least start quality. MtBotany (talk) 15:08, 23 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the suggestions! I’ll look at what good plant articles have and try to add it to stub articles. LycheeDragonLover (talk) 16:14, 23 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Excellent, and happy editing! Also, I've got a few reference tips on my user page. Mostly stuff that I use all the time like the NatureServe status tag that I wanted to have in a spot where I could easily copy and paste from. MtBotany (talk) 21:10, 23 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I know that the featured articles can be a little intimidating. So in case you are feeling put off by them, take a look at what I just created for Lupinus prunophilus. It got a "C" quality rating and that's good enough for me. No need to go as deep on all the pages you work on, but this is an example of what I think of as good enough range description, an okay taxonomy, and so on. What it really lacks is a good habitat description and ecology info, if available. MtBotany (talk) 21:07, 24 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Today I added a lot of info to the page Aristolochia argentina, and I think that the stub quality classification doesn’t fit it anymore. The only thing it is missing is Distrubution and Habitat info. Can you consider changing the quality classification? LycheeDragonLover (talk) 18:20, 25 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi LycheeDragonLover! I just wanted to send you a message to let you know that an account with the username LycheeDragonLoverBACKUP was just created. They then created their user page claiming to be an alt account of this one. If this is the case, no worries. I'm just sending you a message to make sure. If this account does not belong to you, please let me know as soon as possible so I can handle the situation. Either way, I hope you're doing well and I wish you happy editing. :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 23:54, 27 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Carex bullata, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Carex ovalis. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
