[edit]Please stop adding unreferenced controversial biographical content to articles or any other Wikipedia page, as you did at Taio Cruz. Content of this nature could be regarded as defamatory and is in violation of Wikipedia policy. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. This is the final warning you will receive regarding your disruptive edits.
The next time you violate Wikipedia's biographies of living persons policy by inserting unsourced or poorly sourced defamatory or otherwise controversial content into an article or any other Wikipedia page, as you did to Taio Cruz, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Lil-unique1 (talk) 20:42, 28 July 2010 (UTC)
I see from your post to User talk:Lil-unique1 that you say you are working for Taio Cruz's management, and are trying to correct errors. Unfortunately there are two problems there. Firstly, since anyone can create an account on Wikipedia and claim to be anyone, we cannot accept an editor's word for it. This I why we require reliable sources for information, and do not accept "I know the truth, so you can take my word for it". I am not suggesting that you are lying, but just explaining why we work this way. In the early days of my own Wikipedia editing I had exactly the same problem of putting material into an article that I knew was correct, but other editors insisted on reverting because I couldn't cite sources. At the time I thought this was silly, but now I understand there were good reasons for it. The second problem is that if you are working for Taio Cruz's management then you will not have a neutral point of view, and Wikipedia's conflict of interest guideline discourages you from editing the article. If you have just been correcting factual errors then conflict of interest should not be a problem, but if any changes you make might be seen by others as controversial then you should not make those changes, even if you yourself are convinced they are correct. Please note that I am not expressing an opinion on your editing myself: I have not most of your edits, and have no idea whether there is anything there that is exceptionable. I am here as an administrator who was alerted because others thought there was a problem, and I am trying to help you understand what is going on. Please feel welcome to contact me on my talk page if you have any questions about this. JamesBWatson (talk) 12:22, 30 July 2010 (UTC)
- Also please note that you must provide a reliable source for any material that you add or change. Your personal knowledge of the subject, however, is not a sufficient reference. —DoRD (talk) 13:14, 30 July 2010 (UTC)
- The best way for you to resolve conflicting information is to point editors to where the correct information is posted somewhere "official" - ideally on Taio's website.—Mrand Talk • C 16:17, 30 July 2010 (UTC)
Re: I Work for Cruz's Management Company
[edit]In have a few problems with what you have said:
- You cannot prove the following statements are true:
- Just to let you know I actually work for Taio's management company
- He's asked me to update his wiki page to straight out a few facts
- secondly it is not appropriate for someone affiliated to an artist to be writing about him/her on wikipedia as it fails on the grounds of impartiality, integrity and neutrality.
- I personally have nothing to do with your blocking though I am fulfilling my duties as a fellow editor to notify you when your actions are incorrect e.g. failing WP:verifiability.
- Your comment I'm not trying to 'vandalise' the page, quite the opposite! is completely illogical as WP:vandalism is actually what your editing actions have entailed. Per the warnings given you have removed sourced and changed information in the biography of a living person without providing adequate references or rational or discussion (until today, which I will praise you for at least opening some comments).
- If and only if you are who you say your are then perhaps you should ask yourself why Cruz has hired your company. All of the information we have taken from reliable and credible sources who've cited official sources from Cruz, Cruz's label and Cruz's management. If you guys are giving out incorrect information to the media then you cannot blame wikipedia when we make claims such as "Cruz has worked with "The Wanted". If the national media report something which is incorrect it is the job of Cruz's team to correct this. If you are genuinly claiming he hasn't worked with 'The Wanted' you should be criticizing the News of the world for publishing it as it will have reached a much larger proportion of of people than wikipedia is.
- Wikipedia can only create articles based upon the content available. When you have sites like All Music which, is constantly referred to as one of the most reliable industry sources (their biographies are used by Tesco, Billboard and the biggest music retailer iTunes) reporting things about Cruz one can assume that the information is correct specially if supported by other reliable sources. If the information is incorrect then it is the owness of Cruz/Cruz's team to correct that information. A statement from a random editor on Wikipedia stating he/she is speaking on behalf of Cruz is most certainly not a reliable source be you genuine or not. Now if you have an issue with the information I am more than happy to discuss it on the talk page, Talk:Taio Cruz. List each thing which you feel is incorrect and then if you can provide a relavant, appropriate and reliable source stating otherwise it can be changed.
- You have recieved a Lv4 warning above, then next one is a final warning if you continue to remove information - something I don't want to have to give especially not when I think it is a good thing to question the information and I appreciate that if you are genuine then it is also possible that Cruz may wish to correct what is written.
- At the end of the day its not wikipedia's fault if Billboard/Allmusic/The Media is incorrect. --Lil-unique1 (talk) 00:54, 31 July 2010 (UTC)
