[edit]Hello, I'm Karl 334. I noticed that you recently removed content from United States Army Armor School without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Request reason:
Please, I am only trying to update this page for the organization. Most of the info in the paragraphs on the courses is in correct and I need to update it. I have to delete it all and start from scratch. Please stop reversing my actions and blocking me Luckythreetwo (talk) 20:27, 29 January 2020 (UTC)
Decline reason:
Procedural decline only as stale/unresponsive. You are welcome to make a new request responding to some of the concerns given below. 331dot (talk) 15:36, 8 February 2020 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
Hi Luckythreetwo,
- Do you have a connection to United States Army Armor School?
- Would you mind having a look at the following policy? Wikipedia:Ownership of content – you are not required to read it completely, but to understand its main point.
- Why do you "need" to make these changes? Are you being compensated to do so, or do you expect compensation when doing so?
Thank you very much in advance for answering these questions, and for your patience.
Best regards,
~ ToBeFree (talk) 20:37, 29 January 2020 (UTC)
- Yes I am affiliated with the organization and have signed most of my edits saying so, "USAARMS edit v5".
- I read the ownership policy. I understand I do not own the page. Just trying to increase accuracy for the general population.
- No I am not paid to update, it just benefits to give future students looking up the school accurate information.
- Thank you Luckythreetwo (talk) 20:42, 29 January 2020 (UTC)
- Luckythreetwo, Thank you very much for answering the questions.
- When signing edits as "USAARMS edit vX", this seems to imply that you represent USAARMS, and that you are editing on their behalf. If this is the case, however, we do consider you to be a "paid" editor, and require disclosure as described in WP:PAID. If this is not the case, please avoid causing this impression in the future. Regardless, you seem to have a conflict of interest, and are thus discouraged from editing the article directly.
- To propose useful changes without directly editing the article, there are two simple alternatives:
- You could create a draft at Draft:United States Army Armor School and later propose it to replace the current article, or
- you could propose specific changes at Talk:United States Army Armor School, in a "replace X by Y" format. For example, your proposals could look like:
- "Please remove the 'Example' section. Reason: It completely lacks inline citations, and I question its accuracy (WP:BURDEN). It appears to be factually incorrect."
- "Please add the following sentence to the end of the 'Example' section: "The school was founded in 1234. Reference: https://www.example.com/example.html"
- "Please replace "The person is a hmuan" by "The person is a human". Reason: Typography error. I would normally be allowed to fix typography mistakes myself, but may currently not edit the article directly."
- "Please move the sentence "The school was founded in 1234" to a new section called 'History'."
- I strongly recommend the second option, as it allows us to selectively implement changes easily. However, if you really intend to rewrite the whole article, creating a draft might be the only feasible way.
- Do you agree to propose changes instead of editing the article directly? Specifically, would you agree to remain blocked from editing United States Army Armor School directly, while regaining your ability to propose changes and to create a draft?
- Best regards,
~ ToBeFree (talk) 21:11, 29 January 2020 (UTC) - Note: I have overwritten your conversion of the answer to a second unblock request, as your request is still open and I have seen your message. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 21:11, 29 January 2020 (UTC)
I am doubtful about unblocking an editor whose editing history before the block consisted entirely of edits with grossly misleading edit summaries, such as claiming that you "Changed information in paragraph", that you "Changed catagory" [sic], that you "Changed structure", when in fact in all those edits you did nothing other than remove large chunks of information without any explanation at all. Perhaps you can explain those. JBW (talk) 15:57, 2 February 2020 (UTC)
